I cannot begin to tell you
how much this Web site helped me before I went in for
braces. I knew exactly what to expect and it was much less
intimidating than it could have been. First, I'm 31 years
old and have been putting off getting braces for the past
several years. I needed them as a kid, but we never had the
money.
Let me just say, everything you
all said was true - right down to the terrible taste of the
glue! Yuk! I've had my braces for a little less than a week now
and I'm doing great. I actually think the spacers were worse. I
have clear on top and in a couple of months I'll get metal on
bottom. Expected treatment is 18-24 months. I didn't have any
real trouble eating, just need to avoid the list of foods the
doctor gave me. Other than that, I could pretty much eat
anything on the first day. I have a couple of small sores where
my mouth is getting used to the braces, but it's more discomfort
than real pain.
To anyone who's thinking about
getting braces, DO IT! Nobody really even notices mine and, if
they do, they are very supportive. I think we assume people
notice things about us way more than they actually do. How often
do you really dwell on someone else's teeth? Chances are you've
forgotten someone has braces the minute they walk away. Same
will go for you. I still have a long road ahead of me, but I
think it's going to pass by in a flash. Oh, and I can already
see where my teeth have started moving! Very cool! Good luck! |
