Starting my journey soon

#1 Post by diegorgeous »

Hey Everyone,
I am starting my Lingual journey soon and I would like to document my journey here :D .

The doctor described my problem as protrusion. Basically I grew ALL my teeth and my jaw is to small to fit them all well. I have crowding though my teeth are straight ( nothing is out of place) , my mouth just looks bigger than it should and it affects my profile. I will be going to 3 consultations within the next 2 weeks to decide who I will go with. I learnt about all these orthodontic clinics from this site (thanks guys!1). For people who go to any of the orthodontic clinics below, could you pls review them pls and tell me the price e you paid for treatment and your satisfaction rate. Thanks a lot!!

1) CONSULTATION 1- Canary wharf orthodontics - Dr Mervin Chin

Treatment proposed - extract first premolars top and bottom (top and bottom)
- pontics may be used if i want
- light sTB brackets
- time (18 - 24 months)
- £7,000

2) CONSULTATION 2 - LONDON LINGUALS - Dr Asif Chatoo (Feb 2nd)

3) CONSULTATION 3 - BARBICAN ORTHODONTICS (Jan 26th)

I just got back from my consultation with Dr Asif Chatoo at London Lingual orthodontics. He was really nice!! I'm definitely going to have my treatment there. He made me feel the most comfortable, and like he really knew what he was doing. I was praying so hard that my price quote won't be too high and thank God, it isn't!! I was quoted almost exactly as Canary wharf orthodontics (£100 more than them). I'm so happy to be treated by a specialist. I saw a number of their patients as well. So excited. I would also be getting 4 extractions. He is yet to decide if they will be my first/second premolars. I would also wear pontics during treatment to hide my gap. Also, I will be using light STB brackets. If I were using incognito, the price will be £1000 more. But Dr Asif Chatoo convinced me that there actually isn't much of a difference, and he actually prefers the STB because they are smaller. My treatment time is 20-24 months. I will be getting upper and lower linguals. My problem is protrusion, so basically they are extracting and pushing everything back.

My first consultation £100
Something else(Can't remember) £100
Xrays, moulds etc £400
Treatment £6,600

Total price £7,200

Not sure if my quote includes my extractions. I'll ask.

Congrats on starting your journey.

I'm sure you won't look back.

I'm not sure who's doing your extractions but the way it worked with me was my dentist did those, not my ortho. So I had to pay to have them out.

Good luck :D

Hello,

You are lucky. I dont have many options. My othordontist only provides incognito. My one is about $10000 CAD. My treatment would be around 3 years.

I haven't put it yet. I'm doing the rings things (sorry don't know the terms)

Keep us posted!

Cheers :D

To be honest, I'm very new. I wasn't like you. You've done so much research. Then chose the one is good for you.

I'm not exactly understand the single detail. My problem was my adult cannie didn't come down. It's lying somewhere. so I have a bridge. My New Zealaner dentist ( when I was in New Zealand) sugguested to do extraction. My Canadian dentist sugguested to expose it then do braces to bring it down. He refered me to an orthodontist and ask if she can do it. I didn't know anything, as long as she said she can do it. I paid $400 for the record on my first visit (yes, without knowing there are different types of linguals are avavialble in the market).

Then my orth refered me to do a 3D x-ray. $350. :?

I haven't put on my braces yet. Since my dentist insists I should wait for 6 months and see if my cannie is coming down or not. If it's coming down, I will put my braces. If not, there is no point to do the braces. My ortho has to listen to my dentist. :-**

So what's going on now? They are trying to put two rings and set a wire thing. I paid $1200 for this. Then I need to see my oral surgeon to discuss about my cannie expose surgery.I haven't seen him yet, dont know the cost. But it would be a lot
