I am considering getting incognito braces -- just working on how to PAY for these expensive buggers. I am also curious: Do you need to wear a metal retainer after getting the incognito braces off? At least...during the day? I forgot to ask the ortho and cannot find the answer to this question anywhere.

Im pretty sure you will have to wear a retainer after wearing any kind of braces. Retainers are to prevent your teeth from having any relapses. Usually retainers are worn for about 6 months to a year 24/7 and then every night for the rest of your life until your ready to go back to having misaligned teeth. HeHe. If you're worried about the visual appearance of the Hawley retainers... They also make clear ones called Essix. So yeah. Hope I was some sort of help.

Oh and as far as Incognito braces. I think they hurt the most among all braces. HEHE. My cousin has been in those kind of braces for 6 months and she is barely getting use to them because of the constant friction is does on your tongue. Which tongue sores hurt way more than lip sores.

My ortho will be putting in a wire retainer on both top and bottom when I get my ibraces off. The permanent glued in type.

My ortho will be putting in permanent bonded retainers behind the front six teeth and I will also have clear essix retainers.
