Only 30 years late but better late then never. I am getting ceramic uppers and metal lowers. Should only be in treatment for 8-12 months. Was qouted $2700 with full upfront payment by a reputable local ortho. Other orthos with fancy coffee machines in their offices wanted $5700. Hmmm, wonder which I chose since I have to pay 100% myself. Well, I have enjoyed lurking and finally registered. Here's to straight teeth in about a year!!

Good luck! I got mine on (uppers & lowers) about 6 weeks ago and I am almost 39. Just embrace it (haha excuse the pun) and keep us posted with your progress :)

Good luck! I'm braced almost 6 weeks now. Just turned 46. Had them in my teens and need them again. Have been told that for the last 6 years so I finally gave in.

I have ceramic on top and metal on bottom as well. I have ligatures - so not self ligating.
I go ever three weeks to get my ligatures changed and I'm sure eventually to change wires, get rubber bands etc.

I was told about 12 months in treatment but I'm preparing myself for more like 18 months since I've read so many folks take longer than originally quoted.

Getting them put on is a piece of cake! So don't worry! :)

I think I've got all of you with the age. Im 50. Been braced up for just over 1 month. This is my 2nd go round. Loved the "embraced" pun that made my day.

44 years old, second go-around, about 6 weeks in. Was told a minimum of 6 months, so I'm preparing myself for 9.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Good luck-I also have an expected similar timeframe of 9 months with ceramic uppers.

I am 24, married and a mother of one so am very determained to do this. First time round as severe dental phobia prevented me from doing this as a teen.

Good luck today! I'm 39 and after 4 consults, I'll be having my records appt next week, braces to follow. Glad you found someone reasonably priced. I'm unfortunately close to paying the 5700 number, but that was the best I found in my area, and it's for at least 19 months in braces. Hope we're both really happy at the end!
