Ok I am going to have this discussion with my ortho next time I go in but thought I would put this out to all you folks on this site. I was told to wear my elastics at night only (Right now I do the class II elastics -Upper canine to second to last lower molar on both sides)
Everything I read says wearing your elastics at night only will do nothing to move your teeth. So what is the rationale for wearing the elastics at night only?
Anyone else where elastics only at night??

I'm wearing 3 sets of elastics, all of them nighttime only... max 8 hours/night.

I've had molars that have started erupting with nighttime elastics. I also wear a set from my lower last molar (7's) to my upper canines. I'm wearing it to keep my jaw from falling back when I sleep and help keep my airway open, but it has also resulted in adjustment of my bite. Wearing these elastics, I'm actually ahead of schedule in terms of bite adjustment.

My vote is that the nighttime elastics are working for me.

The only thing I'm not liking about the nighttime only routine is that my teeth hurt every morning and it takes a couple hours to calm the pain.

It is nice to know others are wearing the night time only elastics and they are working. Before I had the class II elastics, I was wearing the triangle ones from my top canines to the bottom canine and bottom first premolar and it did seem to work.

i am not looking forward to the elastics so i am hoping i will only have to wear them at night too. i guess time will tell
