Hi all

Don't know why it took me this long to register on this board, even though I spent many hours reading posts here around the time my braces went on just over a year ago.

Getting braces at 34 was quite a decision. When I was in my early teens I had four teeth removed to make space in a crowded palate. I also had a removable brace, which spent much of its time in its "removed" state. Therefore I was left with one incisor on the top which was in crossbite (about 8mm back from where it should have been).

I have slight crowding on the bottom, but I set out to fix the tooth that was in crossbite and so had a fixed brace on the top only using clear "Radiance" brackets and a tooth-coloured wire. When I say tooth-coloured probably they are the colour of some people's teeth, but when the thicker wires went on it was noticeably bright until fading down after a few weeks.

I have my appointment booked for late may to have the braces removed. A little way for the tooth to go, but if the final position is as they are now I will be over the moon with their new alignment.

Afraid I don't have any pictures. Maybe I can get the before and after pictures and post them here.

Looking forward to my new teeth. Not looking forward to wearing a retainer (clear PVC) full time for the first few weeks but I know how important it is so will have to grin and bear it!

Oli

Hi Lau

Thanks for your reply. I hope to get some pictures, but at the very least I have a picture from my early teens where the tooth that was inset is totally invisible in the picture. It's made such a difference.

Cheers

Oli
