Hello All!

Not sure if this was discussed before. If it was, please send me the link :)

The ortho says I'm almost done with my braces (have 2-3 months to go) and while I love the improvement made, I am still not completely happy with my smile. The size, shape and color of my teeth need improvement. Some of my teeth are uneven in length and even shape, so I'd like to look into fixing it.

Here's my question: which is better in your opinion? Crowns or Veneers? (keep in mind my teeth are yellowish, while whitening could be an option, I'm not sure how much difference that will make.)

I've noticed some people's smiles face to face and I can clearly tell they have 1 or 2 teeth that look significantly better than the rest of teeth, but I've noticed that some sort of black rim around it (between the gums and the teeth). Whatever it is, I don't want it as it is clearly visible. Is this the result of veneers or crowns, or both?

Any advice and input will be highly appreciated. Thank you!

Congrats for nearing the end of your treatment. My advice is very simple: ALWAYS start with the least invasive procedures first. Try professional whitening with perhaps a little filing to even the teeth that concern you. I think you'll be amazed at what a difference this can make. If you're still dissatisfied, some bonding would probably take care of it.

We tend to be our own worst critics. I'm sure others will think you have a great smile. I wish you the best.

Agree completely with Jethro - the black line you see is the metal from a crown peeking out. It's so invasive and unless you absolutely need it, don't do it. You can consider composite resin added to your teeth - like a white filling to fill in any gaps. I actually needed to rebuild slightly chipped front teeth and my dentist did it with composite resin. They didn't even need to numb me, they look and feel great, and it was only $125 per tooth.
