I had no problems after my Wisdom teeth were removed, and for that I am very thankful. A couple of days ago I met with my ortho for the first time since they were removed. After looking at my bite, he did some wire bending in an attempt to get the rearmost molars on the bottom to intrude. Whereas my bite was formerly being propped open by my wisdom teeth it is now being propped open by the rearmost molars, albeit not anywhere near as much. I have started back on elastics in the front too, to try and close the front down.
He mentioned something during the appointment about some more drastic measures that the oral surgeon thought might be needed, but I didn't understand them. I will try and get clarification on what those things were, but I know he said something about a "plate".
wisdom teeth do not participate in chewing. there is no point in keeping them, they are the source of bacteria in the mouth too, since difficult to brush. so removing them was the right thing to do.. but
I wonder if he could use them as an anchorage for intruding second molars first, and then removing them...
intruding teeth is very difficult. it he wants to use a bite plate for that - is one thing. a lot of people say - it is not very effective though.
surgery on the other side will cost you 20 times more than the extraction you have just made.
