Today is the two month mark! I cannot beleive how fast time has gone!
Two months down, only ten(ish) more to go!
Easy peasy.

2nd adjustment today at 12pm!!
I have been soo excited for this appointment, this could be the one that finally moves those canines into place! I also could be getting the elbows for the MARA put in. That wont be so fun.
I'll let you know how it goes!

I heard my ortho say to put a chain on the bottom, then he changed his mind and said dont change anything, just move up to a 19. She tried to put the thicker wire on the bottom, but because one of my molars is still turnedt, she couldnt get it in (Ill post a pic of that tooth later).
\
I am a little concerned that I havent gotten the elbows put on the MARA yet. Its really not doing anything without the elbows. I feel like if I dont get them on soon, I will have to wear my braces so much longer.

I did change my lig colours finally.. from grey to black. How exciting.

Ok so here is what I was talking about with the tooth that is turned.
I don't think it has moved at all since I got my braces on.

That spot is super hard to floss by the way.

I noticed no one is really following my story. Oh well, I like comparing my pictures, and this is the easiest way to do it.
Anyway, here are my update pictures!

I cant top smiling in the mirror, yet when I am in public I am still shy about them and try to cover them as much as possible...

Well thats it for now.. lets hope those canines get in place soon! I will post when I see some more movement!

Hi b,

It sure looks like your arches are rounding out nicely for you. Image. Tho that looks to be quite a lot of hardware you have in there, it's working!

The twisted one will eventually "obey the force"Image and turn around to its proper position. Just give it some more time. Image"Resistance is futile".

Good Luck! Ken.Image

Hi b :D

Your progress looks great so far! I hope to see such improvement in my teeth so fast! I really have to compliment you on your photography. It's an awesome idea to document this, something that I wish I did my first time. Your photos are nice and clear. Did you photograph yourself or have someone help you?

I also have to comment on the mara device. It must be terribly uncomfortable :( . What's it do...open your arch? Does your ortho mention how long you have to wear it?

Good luck with everything - looks like you've got a good ortho. I'll be checking your progress...and don't be shy to show off that beautiful smile in the making !

Its to fix my deep/over bite.
Google MARA appliance, and it might make more sense how it works when you see the whole thing. Also, I dont have the little elbows in yet so its not really doing anything. It just forces your bottom jaw to slide forward when you bite down. Right now I just have some super awkward peices sticking out of the top and bottom part of it. I will take pictures of those later. It also acts as an expander, if they give you the little tool to make it expand, but I guess I didnt need any expanding.
I will only have to wear it for as long as I am wearing the braces, unless of course my bite doesn't improve by the time my teeth do, I will probably wear both for a little longer. Like I said in my last post, I hope I get the elbows soon so my bite starts getting better!
I would show you pictures of my bite, but with the MARA and the molar buildups I have right now, you wont be able to tell, but my top teeth used to completely cover my bottom teeth.

And thanks for the compliment on my pictures :)
I decided to start taking pictures before I even got the braces. I saw everyone's pictures in their stories and I couldnt wait to post my story and look back on my progress.
I take all the pictures by myself, My trick is to make sure there is lots of natural light, and make sure there is enough light so you dont need to use the flash. Also, make sure it's on the macro setting, and sit in front of the mirror and look at the screen through the mirror to make sure you've got the picture right where you want it, otherwise you will have alot of pictures of your nose and yourself making funny faces.

Your progress looks great for only having them around 2 months! How happy are you? Aren't you happy with your decision to get the braces? For me, it has been one of the best things I have ever done.

Yes!, all I keep thinking is "WHY DIDNT I DO THIS SOONER!"
..Well if I had of done this sooner, my insurance would have partially covered it.. they only cover orthodontics up to the age of 19. But thats not the reason I wish I had done it sooner! I have never felt more happy and excited then when I looked at those pictures and compared them. I can't believe how much my teeth have moved! I really should have done this sooner, but the fear of having braces made me put it off for too long.
