Does the feeling of wanting to rip them out go?
Ohhh I remember this feeling very very well. It does go, well it did with me. I often felt like I wanted to rip them out, some days the frustration would almost bring me to tears, but it did eventually wear off and I got completely used to them. Most of the time I forget I even have braces until it comes to brushing and flossing. I think I may even miss them when they are gone!

Why did they not tell me this? Will there be more suprises? Are there any questions I need to ask before I go further.
My Ortho told me everything that I could possibly have during my treatment during my consultation. He mentioned elastics and headgear (I know, how old fashioned). He said that I might need both and wanted to let me know everything before I went ahead. I did have elastics but no headgear. I also ended up with a quad helix but for some reason I cannot remember him mentioning that to me at the start... which is a bummer because it was horrible.

They also mention turbos, how long will it take me to get my speech correct?
I cannot comment on the bite turbos, but maybe you could suggest molar build ups instead? I'm assuming you need the turbos because your upper teeth would bite down on the lower braces? If so, I had the exact same thing so had to get molar build ups and they did not interfere with my speech at all.

I am happy I am getting this done, I have always wanted to do this but it;s a real big commitment and glad I have found this forum.
Thanks for your adivce!!
It's hard to take it all in at first and can be a bit much but you will soon get used to everything and it will all become normal.
