I am a 40 year male getting braces next month. Should I go all metal or get clear on the top?

Thanks
Jeff

I have clear on top. They seem huge to me compared to the metal on the bottom, however, with that being said, they are a lot less conspicuous than the metal. So as a 42 year old woman, I am very glad I have clear on top! Now, I just wish I had been born with naturally beautiful teeth (or parents who didn't use a dentist form the stone ages as a kid) and didn't have to do this as a middle age woman....ugh!

Good Luck! :D

I am 52 and I have clear on top. Although, now I wouldn't care if the top were silver.

Same here - have clear on top and metal on bottom. Almost wished I had just gone with all metal. I think it makes the bottom ones stand out even more...

I have ceramics on both the top and bottom. I have heard people say that ceramics are just as noticeable as metal, which may be true, but it personally makes me feel better, and I feel more confident smiling in pictures and talking to people.

I went with clear on top and will go with them on bottom when I get them. I think it was a good choice but I've only had them for a week.

I think it really depends on your own comfort level.

I have self-ligating clear on top. Honestly most people never notice the braces at all.

I'll be gettin metal on bottom when I ever get far enough in my treatment to get them.

I agree with the other poster. I'm very happy with my clears, but I could easily live with the metals if I needed to.

If you are confident having them on, others around you won't pay as much attention. At least, that is what I've found.
