Sounds like a good update.

Hmm, do you think it's cut down the time in braces? Finishing wires already? Sounds pretty good!!!

I can't believe your husband didn't think it'd work?! Interesting that he was skeptical, but it's cool that he can see the difference!!

Also, look into see if he has an FSA (Flexible Spending Account) account to take advantage of.. you usually can use that towards braces.

Wow! What an update! I wonder if the fact that they want to look at the roots means that you are getting closer to the end already? Seems too good to be true because you only started a couple of months ago but, honestly, your teeth look fab! Do they fit together well when you bite? If they do and you have been reduced to a 3mm overjet (3 is considered normal from my understanding) then I can't imagine what they would do for the next year and a half beyond allowing the roots time to straighten up?!? I think the next time you go in you should see if you can muster up the courage to ask if he thinks you time will be shorter than originally planned. Wouldn't that be amazing?!

Hi everyone

So yesterday I got Elastics. To move my lower jaw inline with my upper jaw. I think its called midline. THE BEST NEWS.........I DON"T NEED the scary FORSUS springs. YEAH ME!!!! I guess my teeth are moving better than they thought when they did my assessment.

I have had my braces for 4 months. I am on the super thick wire and will get the finishing wires in 6 weeks. Can't get too excited because I still have like 18 months to 24 months left.

They also put powerchains (the ligs that are attached) on my uppers and lowers and the lower space (near my lower fang) that has been there for months closed up in less than 24 hours almost. CRAZY!!! I will send pics after my million house guests leave after Easter weekend.

My teeth are in pain, I THINK, I am on painkillers for my endometriosis for a couple days so it isn't too bad but I can still feel them so I can only imagine how bad it would be without any painkillers (prescription advil plus tylenol every 4 hours) I can talk okay and eat okay and plan on wearing these things 24 7 so that my teeth move fast. I hope that they work because those forsus springs looked scary and too permanent.

Let us know how it goes with the elastics. I'm not sure when I'm getting those, but eventually. I still have to get over the hump of having lower braces.

So, you'd be in the finishing wire for the majority of the time??

Sounds like things are moving along swimmingly! I can't wait to see your pics, because I'm curious as to the elastics configuration to fix your midline. I'm sure I will need to have that done at some point.

Elle,

A heating pad helped ease the pain of elastics when I had them. Maybe you can try one, see if it helps.

I am new here and have been laughing out loud at your posts---it's so good to know that other people are available to
talk/vent with.

I don't get braces until May 17th, and I'm already thinking "OMG, what have I done?". And just so I wont change my mind,
I've already paid half of the 5100 ...It's like something else has taken over my brain!! REALLY!! I mean I am 55 years old!!!
It almost seems surreal that I am doing this...and everyone says what you have said about being horrified at the 1st time you saw yourself in braces to being quite OK with them a few weeks later.

I am so encouraged by your pics---your teeth already look amazing!! They really do!!

I will enjoy reading more of your posts--you will help me to be able to laugh at myself too--oh, and by the way, my mom was the EXACT version of your grandma--but usually she only torked my brain about my hair or makeup--I can only imagine what she would say about me getting braces!!!

Well, since I have a 2 year sentence to serve also, I guess I will be getting to know a few people around here!! Looking forward to it!! (OK, well...hmmmmm---2yrs--hmmmm--NOT looking forward to that!!)

Thanks Klobird. Laughter makes this process a lot easier. You will be very happy that you get braced, just give yourself time to get used to it. My braces really don't bother me at all, it took about 3-4 months to feel that way but it gets easier.

Thanks snowglobe32, after a day or 2 my elastics do not hurt at all. They only feel a bit of pressure if I take out for 20 minutes then nothing.

drgnchsr36. I think I get finishing wires soon and they bend those to move teeth where they want them. Then I guess once they are where they want them they just hold them in place. Then its the long process of moving my jaw to make my bite better

I can eat most things with the elastics with no problem, I have no pain, my speech isn't effected, sometimes get my cheek caught a bit, people can only kind of see one of them, they are on angles basically, I will add a pic later (need to exercise off all this Easter dinner first)

Thanks for the support and reading my blog. It's nice to know I have you guys to get through this process, my family is sick of talking about my teeth.

Okay as promised here are 2 pics. You will have to look at page 1 for before pics.

So you can see my teeth are a LOT straighter and I am on the last thick wire before the finishing wire is used to move things along. Got elastics last week and they are placed the opposite on each side to move the lower jaw sideways I believe.

I got a new camera which is taking AWESOME pics. SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM cypershot 16.1 MB, Its a great camera if anyone is looking. No need to focus or press macro button for closeups it does it all on its own.

My lower jaw is currently a bit wonky when you look at it compared to the top but I am loving the progress so far. Like I said before if my teeth were this straight I never would have bothered fixing the bite but I am sure it will look amazing when I am done in 18months - 2 years.

I feel so much better about my teeth, I don't even care about my braces, and if you read my first couple of posts you will know I didn't want to leave the house for 2 years.

I hope everyone is well and if anyone is thinking about getting braces, just do it, you will not regret it.

Hi guys

Hope everyone is doing good. I HATE my braces lately I am having a few weeks of feeling sorry for myself and wishing the next 2 years will fly by. I know I was actually okay with them last blog but people keep commenting on how they make my lips stick out and how funny it is and how uncomfortable my mouth looks. People are MEAN!!!! I know they think it's funny but can't they lie about it now and then in 2 years tell me what a loser I looked like.

SO today I got my finishing UPPER wire and that kinda of hurt going in, really really tight. Same wire on bottom for 6 more weeks then I will get the finishing wire. I got some new elastics, like an upside triangle on both sides, from the 2 upper hooks to the 2nd lower hook

AND the worst elastic a upside triangle on my right side to close things up, I only have to wear at night time or when I am home alone, so it will stay on lots, hopefully it moves fast. They added wire hooks and I can only imagine how many pieces of food will get stuck in them. LOL. Could be some good laughs coming up for me or me to make others laugh.

OHHHHHHHHHH and the BEST NEWS!!!! I got laser eye surgery so I am no longer ugly betty, well just the braces but no more geek chic glasses for me. I got PRK which takes longer to heal than lasik so my computer vision sucks right now it takes 3 weeks to 3 months to heal. I am just at 3 weeks. I was going to wait til I had money in the budget but their was a huge special.....Ummmm yeah I know you should never choose the place with the special when it comes to your vision but it was a great company so I did it. I have wanted to do this for over 10 years so I am very happy about it but still am feeling like a loser with the braces.

Okay now that I am done feeling sorry for myself I will remember how appreciative I am that I can afford to do this. My husband basically told me to suck it up because I really wanted this and knew it would be a tough couple years to get the results I wanted. No pain no gain

What amazing progress, your teeth look beautiful, although they were pretty good before treatment! I've got just over a week until I get braced, my lower teeth are quite similar to how yours were so i'm hoping they might straighten out as quickly as yours have!

Thanks Harriet, Good luck with your brace date. The anxiety is the worst part and then the patience. Mine straightened out super fast, which was a relief. Look forward to hearing of your speedy progress.

I know it seems really fast but my ortho sent me a progress letter in the mail saying I was on schedule for 24-32 months. OMFG I don't know if I will last past 18 months. Still hoping for a miracle!!! Maybe it was a typo or maybe they just say that to not get your hopes up.

Wow, great progress so far! But yeah, I'd freak with that time estimate! :shock:

I hope you are right and they over estimate the time you'll need. How are the wire loops for your elastics treating you? They look like they'd be in the way all the time. I hope you won't need them long.

I'm trying hard not to be SUPER JEALOUS of you because I got mine before you did but you're already in elastics and scheduled to be in your second finishing wire on your next visit. But it is great news that you've come so far in such a short time.

LOL Thanks Luchababe I am super jealous of your white teeth. LOL. I don't think your bite is as spacey as mine on the sides so you probably dont have as much fixing.

Threescompany, I am assuming I will have the wires on the front til at least my next appointment in 6weeks. When she first attached it and I had not seen in the mirror I was like OMFG what the heck is that but saw that is it not TOO noticeable unless I talk so I will just not talk for the next 2 months LOL Now the elastics are SOOOO noticeable so not much I can do about that. I only have to wear the front one at night or home alone. I feel like a pirate or something wearing it, SERIOUSLY I can't stop saying "IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII" like a pirate or growling LOL, NOT SEXY AT ALL!!!! :-*

Thank gosh I get to meet so many new people this month, and go to a few of my husbands work events and oh my husbands family reunion and oh my 10th wedding anniversary, lots of pics OH what fun!!!! :-+
