Yeah, my laziness of not wanting to brush/floss.. I don't snack anymore. Ugh.

I'm sure that'll change down the line though..

Glad you were able to get some rest :)

How did it go for you today, Grillz? Did you get your braces? ; ) I was thinking about you today and wondering how it went. I had my two teeth extracted yesterday...My husband talked me into getting put out for the extraction and even though I was happy when I woke up and it was all over, when I got home I was hit with a really bad migraine. I dont know if it was because of the medicine used to put me out or if it was from the vicodin they gave me to take afterwards but, I suffered all day with being sick and having a migraine. The weirdest part of it was that it would hit me whenever I laid down or sat down but would go away quickly if I stood up and/or walked around. I'm just glad it is all over with and I hope I dont have to have any more pulled!

pity party time....worst headache. feel sooo thirsty, combination cold and braces = double dehydration going on? drank 2 cups of plain tea, drank water....i so much want to suck on a sugar free cough drop but i'm afraid because 1. what if i bite it....even i tell myself i wont'...i could 'forget'....and damage the braces... 2)i'd have to remove silicon wax, water pik, brush and floss again, replace wax again.....and i don't want to do that either.

i'm remembering now that after dinner, i water piked, and brushed. but then i forgot to floss and i put the wax on :-+ ......should i rip it all off and floss again? i used a proxy brush on the non waxed teeth....i've already flossed 3 times today which is more than i have ever flossed in one day in my entire life.....

mouth and head are starting to ache something bad :soremouth: .....will try to sleep, hope i can

:-} oh my gosh....you are flossing way too much. Really, you don't need to after every meal or snack. I use my RediBreeze after any snack during the day, and only floss once at night before bed. You definetly would not need to floss after a cough drop. Maybe just a quick swish of water. You'll get less picky about cleaning the longer you have them on. You can have that cough drop too. Sometimes when i want something sweet but don't want to mess up eating well all day i have a tootsie pop. I never bite it, and am really careful with the tootsie part. Its funny, you floss too much and my bad habit is using Listerine like 5 times a day.
I saw you said something about a bad taste in your mouth, and yeah i get that sometimes too. Its usually the brackets. They seem to hold onto stuff...even after a rinse, brushing and swishing listerine sometimes they still have a icky film. Also, it might just be because you're sicky.
Oh and, love the color :-#)

Having a cold and braces stinks! Breathing through your mouth is even ichier, my teeth and braces got all gummy and gross. And when you NEED a cough drop, you just have to have one. It's hard as heck NOT swishing it around in your mouth and tucking it between your cheek and teeth. I find I have to say no to those after dinner candies at restaurants now since I'm not aware enough to suck them properly. :(

i never thought there might be a proper way to suck a cough drop...but that makes perfect sense....you wouldn't want the candy part to directly contact the braces/brackets even if you are just sucking on it......i just popped a cough drop in my mouth...it's 4 am and my throat was killing me...you are so right about wanting to tuck it into my cheek....i never even thought about that this was how we like to suck on one.....just popped it out after maybe a minute and now i'm drinking some hot tea.....but that did seem to help! thanks so much for that....

ashesgap: thanks for the heads up about over flossing....maybe that's part of why my mouth was hurting so much.....it hurts a bit less at 4 am now, but my throat is killing me....trade off time i guess  ....i like the color too.....i saw a 'mouth' like that i think it was the wikipedia entry about braces and i thought that is an awesome color, that's what i want. of course that mouth has these perfectly shaped, white teeth so they looked bit better.....i think i'll have another cup of tea and then maybe i'll try to hit the sack again..... :computer:

So sorry that you're not feeling well, Grillz...man, you sound so much like me! I had a cold that had just come on me when I got my braces put on and then came down with the flu the same day!! Ugh! Take care hon and I will say that my Neti-Pot that I bought at Walgreens really did help my symptoms...you should try getting one.

Love the pic! Wow, your top teeth already look so nice! Wish mine looked that good! And, your teeth are sooo white!! Mine seem to be naturally yellow. Every time I've gone to my dentist he gives me stuff to whiten them but they just stay yellow. Plus, half my teeth are crowned anyway...lol I was surprised they wanted to brace them, rather than just tell me to let them pull them all and make false teeth for me!

Well I don't think all that flossing with hurt anything, but doesn't it take forever?
Thera-flu is great for colds. Even though it tastes disgusting, its warm on the throat and helps you sleep.
I have seen the wikipedia page with the blue braces, and you're right the teeth are totally straight. Kind of annoying. lol.
Hope you feel better soon.

I am thrilled for you!! You ligs are such a pretty blue. I hope that you adjust quickly. The flossing will get easier and faster. I found that once my teeth started to move flossing actually became easier than before I even had braces, there was always so much crowding before! I wish you an awesome day showing off your new grill!!

petal:

thanks so much! i think i only slept about 5 minutes last night, between the cold and the mouth....i was so congested....i basically slept sitting up but i never really feel asleep. i told myself if i am good and go out and do all my errand this morning....i will swing by the jewish deli and get a big bowl of matzo ball soup......that stuff is my penicillin.....

ashesgap: yes, the flossing does take f o r e v e r. for some of my teeth i have to use a tweezers to grab the other end of the floss (and i'm using the crest glide w/ the hard end....) because i can't quite angel my hand right to grab onto it.....

sjeanine; thanks for your sweet words but my teeth are soo Unwhite.....i drink tons of coffee and tea and never gave a thought to the color of my teeth before now.....i know my front teeth look pretty good but my big problem is that only my right back teeth come in contact and so all of my chewing force is there and lots of it, i'll be so glad when that is fixed

jensceana73: yup, i did it......i'm so glad i didn't cancel!!

thought i'd report in on the status of my mouth.....extremely sore. it's day #2 of having braces. today i had a smoothie for breakfast, matzo ball soup for lunch w/ a little egg salad (with the celery picked out), spoonful or two of coffee ice cream. dinner is another smoothie and latter on if i'm still hungry i'll have some mashed potatoes. i was excited, i found a solution to the high sugar smoothies, it's call glucerna...it's a shake for diabetics.....it has a decent amount of protein, vitamins and much less sugar! so excited to try it tomorrow. hope it tastes decently....i am getting pretty tired of smoothies though. i contemplated getting an indian dish spinach paneer but the way my teeth feel right now i don't think i could eat that.....

my main complaint with all this soft food is constipation......i sure miss my whole wheat bread and veggies. i got a few jars of baby food but they look quite unappetizing to me....don't know if i will try them or not.....

got some pureed squash in the frozen section, at least that is a veggie, i'll try that tomorrow as well.
