Day 1: It was yesterday. When the molar bands were removed, I smelled a very bad scent in my mouth. Haha! Though I brush my teeth, I really do not use mouthwash after. It took two hours for my dentist to install my braces for my upper teeth. All the things I have read about the installation of braces were true (well certainly it is! The same process is done worldwide): my teeth was cleaned up, then it was dried up using a blue paste, the hardware was installed, then that's it! I feel pressure on my canine (the term I forgot to mean my fangs haha!) which was not in its position, as well as my two front teeth which was inward. That's when I realized what the dentist meant when she said she'd put the "stones" on my front teeth lower than usual to pull it up in front.
The first day for me is alright, except for my struggles when eating my food, and my sleep. Food? Well, I need to break them down into pieces, as in making me function like a stomach first since I need to grind them (haha! what a term) before I swallow. After eating, my system unconsciously tells me to clean up my metal mouth because I can really feel the tiny bits of food stuck on my braces. For my sleep, I intermittently wake up, not because of pain, but because of an unknown reason. Maybe it is because of the newly installed hardware in my mouth, and my body is still adjusting with them on for about 2 years.
No pain for now, but I really hope I can say forever. Haha!
Will post pictures soon.
Myths to be proved:
- [s]Pronunciations will be affected with braces on (lisping or what).[/s] So far, my pronunciation after my braces were installed is 93% accurate. Its effect is very little in significance, or should I say subtly noticeable.
- [s]Drooling most of the time[/s] Not all the time, but the braces will really make me drool, especially when talking.
- [s]Spitting (sometimes? or most?)[/s] Almost spitted to my mom when we talked! But it is controllable.
- [s]Pain that will not make me sleep comfortably on the next few days with braces on.[/s] It is not pain for me. It may be my body adjusting to the hardware installed in my mouth. I really hope pain will not haunt me in my sleep.
- Sympathetic persons around after they see you with braces on. (Yet to be busted today.)
