So this is my story.. and this is how it begins...

I've been wanting braces all my life ever since i was 13. My parents have always told me that when we go back to our country i will get one because it is much cheaper!. Well 7 years later i couldnt find the time and money to go back but now that i have a full time job (im 21 btw =] ) and saved enough money i could finally get one yay!!! My Orthodontist recommended that it's best if i let my wisdom teeth grow out first, not only will it save me from having my teeth pushed back to how it is originally after i get it off because of overcrowding but it will also save me money by having it pulled out when it grows out of the gum rather than having it done surgically. So after a long wait, it has finally came out!!!.

After a month of trying to get a quote for an average price over the phone (consultation just to go in and get a quote in Australia will usually set you back atleast $100 AUD) from different orthodontist, i have finally found one.

The long,long journey to straight teeth begins here on the 1st of September 2011 where i went to see my chosen Orthodontist and had my 1st consultation. On the 1st day he examined my teeth, gave me a quote and if i decide to go through with it i can get teeth impression done, xray done and profile done. I decided what the hell!!! why waste time?.. so i quickly decided i will do it on the same day instead of having to reschedule to have this done.

A week later on the 08/09/11 he examined and analyse what needs to be done. I had to have 5 teeth taken out, 4 at the top and 1 at the bottom.


A week after that on the 17/09/11 i had my 1st teeth on the bottom taken out. My dentist didnt want to pull out 5 teeth so he split the extraction by 3. After a week, i got my 2 top right teeth taken out (pre molar & wisdom teeth) taken out. Yikes!!! the most painful one yet!.
My last extractions will be done this friday 30/09/11. Im so excited =]. Im one step closer to getting them on. I have already organise an appointment with my orthodontist as to when i will be getting my spacers and braces fitted.

All up the treatment will cost me $7000 ($7500 if i wanted Inspire ice clear braces with metal on the bottom which i am considering of getting), not including the pre dental work i have to do which costs me $737 =/ and the X-ray, teeth impression, profile for about $150.

so all up i will be almost $8000 broke!!! hahah.


This is the most expensive investment i have ever had and i hope the result will be worth it.

It's been 2 weeks since i got my teeth extracted. I had 5 teeth extracted in total. I'm 3 hours away from getting my spacers put on, i hope it's not as painful as many people make it out to be .

goodluck!! i can sympathise with extraction pain! i had 4 removed very recently, and its not fun! i am getting the clear braces on top too, and metal lowers seems like a good option, and really the slightly extra cost is not much in the scheme of thousands of dollars I hope you get the results your after!
I am getting mine on in 12 days time. kinda nerve wracking but exciting i was told i wont need spacers as technology has changed now, as i asked after reading people saying its a bit painful. Hopefully if you have them, they arent too bad! end result will be worth it i am sure!

I took a day off work last wednesday to get my spacers done only to find out i wont be needing them anymore -.- . I get my braces put on on wednesday (2more days yayy!!). I'm so excited, i dont think i wont be able to sleep. I've decided to pay a little extra and go for Inspire ice on top and metal on the bottom. Im now binging because i know i wont be able to eat as much and i also don't want my top one to stain . I hope i can post pictures up soon. damn!
