I'm Asian and it's really common for Asians to be having mouths sticking out more than the noses. See for example, Jessica Sanchez. I'm sorry I don't know anybody Asian having that kind of a situation. I got a decayed first molar years ago on my top left part. I also have been extracted with my 2nd molar years ago and now my parents and I decided to go to the orthodontist to have my braces on. At first, I was looking for 4 teeth extractions for your teeth to move back/push so that it will not just straighten teeth but also correct the jaw or something because that's what braces do, right?

Am I right? Or is it just about straightening teeth.

My dentist said that I won't need extractions and I have read stuffs about not getting extractions, orthodontic treatment is useless because it will not move your jaw or something.

I'm really anxious that I'm just wasting my time on expecting too much from the treatment of braces. That I will just not change at all. I want to look better. I want a deep smile or something. (I'm psyched sometimes.)

I'm planning to have another orthodontic treatment with another dentist after I finish with this dentist if ever I will never be satisfied. :))

Braces cannot change the fundamental structure of your skull. If your facial bones are designed so that your lower face sits forward of your brow, that is a fundamental structure.

What braces can do is align your teeth so they function as they should. If your teeth protrude forward, pushing your lips out, this is something that can be largely corrected with braces. As your teeth move into a more flat aspect with your face, your lips will follow.

I hope this helps answer your question.

Thanks for the answer OldBikerBag.

But as what I have read, the only thing to fix mouth protrusion is to have 4 extrractions + braces or braces + IPRing. That's what I read but I understand you that braces are mainly for alignment.

Looking forward to other answers.
