Christina's journey has begun! Updated with PICTURES!!

#1 Post by Chrissy »

Here I am, not too far away from my first step. Next Wednesday I'm having my impressions taken and after that a whole new life starts  . Don't know what to expect, but thanks to this site I am learning more and more with each story I read. Thanks you guys for sharing them with us!!

Let me post my first pic of me here. I think it's quite a good close up, but I will try and take a photo of my mouth soon. I am going to be wearing upper and lower Damon braces http://www.damonbraces.com/ to correct crowding of my upper teeth and pull together my lower, which have gaps in between them.

Thanks for reading my story and I shall update it soon! :P

Hi Chrissy,

Welcome to the boards!! :-1 I have Damon braces too(just uppers so far, getting lowers next month) so we'll be able to compare...plus, what I can see of your teeth, we have similar crowding. Congrats on deciding to get braced! The first few days will be the hardest but, surprisingly, gets easy fairly quickly :D . I've only been braced 9 days and I hardly notice them already.

Good luck on your journey! I'll check in soon.... :computer: .
Keep smilin'! :)

Here I am, my first day with braces!!! :D I'm getting my camera back tomorrow, so I'll post some pics soon. They did my upper this this time and on my next visit I'm getting my lower done. It's not as bad as I thought it would be (so far so good), but it does feel really strange. I keep on looking myself in the mirror lol. I called my boyfriend and he said "I don't understand half of the things you're saying". Hummm I guess I have to work on that, because I work in a legal company and spend all day talking on the phone with various solicitors :? .... imagine what they'll say if all of a sudden they can't understand a word I'm saying. Should be fun  . Oh and there's another thing I noticed..... everything I drink or eat (I only had some cereal and milk) tastes really, really funny!!

Happy B-day!! :-)o Congrats!

I look in the mirror all the time too! I don't think that'll change much...I'm always looking for movement. That's too bad you're having trouble talking. I never did, and I'm like you...tops on with bottoms on later. Actually today I was talking to a friend on the phone(she hasn't seen my braces yet but knows I have them)and I said something about trying to eat something and shes said "Oh yeah, I forgot you got braces...I can't even tell when you talk!"...I guess that's a good thing :D .

Keep us posted....I look forward to seeing pics!!
Keep smilin'! :)

Here you can finally see the pics of my teeth. Upper teeth are crowded and my lower ones have some gaps between the first 4.

Congrats for deciding to straighten out your smile! It's hard, but it'll be so worth it when those suckers are off :D

Good luck!

Lookin' gooood!

Quick question: Did they attach your archwire all the way to the back teeth or just to the next to last one? Mine only goes to the second back for now and I'm nervous about when they fully attach it. I haven't experienced a pointy wired yet and really don't want to but I'm sure it's inevitable! :?

How's it going so far? We have the exact same braces! :-#)

Mine go back to the 5th tooth. I already had a problem with a sharp wire that was too long, but it was sorted out today :) .... I'm doing fine thank you, I don't feel the pain anymore and I am actually smiling in public lol!! :D

Hi Chrissy –

I bet your teeth have already moved. I saw some minuscule gaps almost immediately, but then nothing else noticeable. Every now and then, a tooth will twinge. A good feeling ‘cause I know the wire is still putting on the pressure. Keep us posted and Good Luck!

Okay it's been more than 2 months and have noticed major changes on my upper teeth. :) At least I know I am on the way to getting my perfect smile. My next visit at the orthodontist is next Wednesday and that's when I get my lower braces as well. I completely got used to them now and here's some new pics:
