Chastity's Braces Story - Updated on September 30 with Pics!

#1 Post by Miss Chastity »

I got braced on January 28, 2008. So far it has been one of the best things I've done for myself. For as long as I can remember I've been embarrassed about my teeth and I believe it has had a huge negative impact on my life because I hardly ever smiled at anyone, everyone always thought I was sad or that I didn't like them. Getting called a vampire by a kid definitely didn't help.

Braces haven't been very difficult. I've had very little pain and the worst part of this entire process was getting two teeth extracted, and then it was just the local anesthesia (I have really bad reactions to the stuff, I won't even go into when I got my widsom teeth removed). I was able to get my wire put back on the next day.

It has been a little over two months and I think there has been a lot of progress.

Here are my teeth the day I got braces put on. Yuck! Inspire Ice brackets on top and regular metal on the bottom:

I had my first adjustment on March 31, 2008. They put a bigger wire on bottom and tied that tooth that was really poking out with wire, other than that everything is still the same (of course I got new ligatures and all that stuff).
Here we are April 4, 2008:

If I didn't know any better I would say that those weren't my teeth! I can't believe its only been two months! I'm supposed to be in these for about two years, I can't wait to see what I look like then!

I will continue to update at least monthly!

Thank you everyone! I can hardly believe it myself

My ortho told me it would take about two years. Sorry I forgot to mention that earlier!

I had the extractions about a month and a half ago and my ortho said they were healing up nicely when I went for my adjustment last week.

I still get food stuck in the holes sometimes, especially rice.

Haha  I always have quite a time digging rice out. That really stinks because I love Chinese fried rice!

What exactly are molar bands for?
