Trisharmywife's Story [[UPDATED]] Dec 2- BRACES ON FOR MONTH
Here's my story:
My first orthodontist appt. consisted of discussing what I wanted to do and what I thought was wrong with my teeth. Pictures were taking of my teeth and also x rays were done. Here are the pictures taken of my teeth. I will be getting braces on November 5. Next week I have an appt to do the molding thing where they mold my teeth.
Dental Evaluation is:
Class II Div 1 sub left
Adult dentition
Mild Upper Crowding
Moderate lower crowding
Moderate overbite (30-40%)
Slight overjet (3-4 mm)
Crossbite
Upper dental midline shifted to left
Missing tooth #10
small tooth #7
healthy gums
So my treatment type is get braces, and extract upper left first biscuspid to leave room for a tooth implant. (Because of the missing tooth) But I also have another option of just having the upper lateral incisor removed so it evens out.
I hope all goes well with getting my braces on.
Also, I'd like to mention something the Dr. discussed with me. He said that the braces will be put on the teeth mold that they make of my teeth so all they will have to do is put the mold in my mouth and use the laser light thing to take of each layer until the braces are on my teeth or something along those lines. If anybody has heard of this please share your stories and thoughts.
Also, I will keep you guys posted once I get my braces on. I will have pics to put up and I want to do like a weekly or monthly picture just so I can notice changes and such..
So, I went to the orthodontist today. I got the molds done and the x-ray lateral. The molds weren't bad but it seemed as though they were too big to be placed in my mouth. I will be getting ceramic braces on top and bottom and I will get colored ligs! Here's a photo of my x rays etc...

So, the orthodonist called me up today to discuss the second option. He told me if I did that option it would save me about 3,000 dollars and it would look just as decent as the first option. So, I'm convinced with the second option, which is explained above. I go to do "records" on Wednesday, which is basically the molds the full head x ray...etc. With the second option I will get my braces put on first and then have that tooth extracted later on towards the end I believe. Well, I will keep everyone posted,
take care and I hope all is well with everyone!

Re: Trisharmywife's Story
I had this done as well. The brackest will be put on the silicone mold. They will just put the mold in your mouth with the brackets in, use the laser to bond each bracket and once they are done they take the mold out. Your brackets will be in place, all at once without having to glue them one by one.trisharmywife wrote: Also, I'd like to mention something the Dr. discussed with me. Hope your brace day goes well

Braces are on!!!!

So, I got my braces on four days ago. I finally had some time to post pictures of them so here they are.
I have ceramic braces on the top and self ligating metal braces on the bottom. I got a metallic blue on the top teeth.
When I got my braces on I was fine throughout the day but it was that night where it finally got to me. It just felt like a lot of pressure on my teeth. I didn't eat much that day mostly drank shakes and stuff. I have been eating soups and I can eat grilled cheese too!! The thing that bugs me the most is that it takes longer to clean my teeth than it is to eat. If anyone has any suggestions on that please please let me know. Other than that I am doing fine, I was using wax because the wires in the back poke into my cheeks but it seemed to toughen up.
Also, if anyone was wondering why I don't have a bracket on one of my front teeth it is because I need to get that tooth pulled because I don't have it on the other side....

Almost a month in
Update: 12/2/2008 Braces on for almost a month, 3 days shy.
Flossing is much easier; I eat mostly everything I did before, but more carefully ; ) I'm not sure if there is any movement on the bottom but think I notice some on the top??
