SpicyOrleanian's Going Straight!!

#1 Post by SpicyOrleanian »

I'm not really good at writing b/c I tend to overwrite, but I wanted to start this journal, so I can remember in the end why it was all worth it.

Here goes...

I've been wanting to get braces for a long time, and during part of this time I never liked taking pictures b/c my top front tooth stuck out slightly, but as I got older I learned how to smile and make it less noticeable.

This year I finally made the decision to get them so on June 20 I had spacers put in, I admit after reading different stories I thought they would hurt but they didn't, it was just a bit annoying because I like to floss and the feeling was awkward.

In between this week I was going back and forth with Ceramic and Metal, getting opinions, reading reviews, which only made this even more confusing for me, but I decided to go with metal. I figured you are going to be able to tell I have braces anyway.

On June 27, FINALLY the braces were put on, but they had a trying time putting on my molar bands because my contacts are tight and the spacers didn't help (at least not to me), I've had no pain (just annoying), no cut lips or cheeks (thank heavens) and no canker sores, so I believe I'm making out fairly well. I have to wear them for 23 months, and later on as I make progress I will have to have rubber bands put on and maybe use a tongue thrusting appliance.

I'm :D excited to see what the outcome will be, and I will post pictures of before and after shots and also as I began to see progress.

**See how long this was**

I will be getting a bigger wire next month and I will have to start wearing elastics in 2 months....Also, the gap was closed, but it somehow opened right back up and my bottom teeth hasn't fully shifted evenly with my top teeth

looking good! You can tell in your pics how much your smile has changed as well. It looks much brighter. How long will you need braces?

I like the blue and clear combination.

Thanks!!!.....I have to wear braces until June 2011

Also I honestly didn't want this blue and silver combination (at least not like this!!)....I wanted royal blue at the bottom and silver at the top, but for some reason she heard differently, and I didn't notice until I left and got in the car...Poor me I thought where am I going like this (b/c I'm too old for this type of combination, at least I think so)
