Funny/embarassing stories relating to your braces

#1 Post by Jay04 »

Whats the funniest or most embarassing thing thats happened to you since you got your braces?

I've only had mine on for 2 weeks, but already I have a small story to share. I bit the guy who was doing my impressions...and I wouldn't let go (I'm like the hamster you shake, but it still never lets go of your finger)

I have very sharp teeth so I felt really bad about it! I didn't realise he was talking to me when he was saying 'thats my finger'. I was in my own little world, daydreaming as usual. He actually had to tell me to let go! I'm pretty sure thats not going to be the most embarassing thing to happen to me yet! I've still got 18 months to go, so theres plenty of time to do something soooooo embarassing that my family will still be talking about it for the next 20 years!

Anyone else have a funny story about their braces journey? Either at the dentist/orthodontists, or just everyday embarassing/funny stories you feel like sharing. We're all in the same boat, plus you might save a fellow forum buddy from making your mistake.

I shall pass this excellent advice on to ya'll....Do NOT bite your orthodontist or their assistants. They really don't like it! Here endeth the lesson :P

Funny topic!

My situation just happened to me last week. I was getting over a really bad cold for which I was taking cough medicine with codeine. That stuff dries you up a lot. I was at the gym having my first session with a trainer, and didn't want to stop every few minutes to drink water. I didn't want to look as out of shape as I really was. Haha

Well, right in the middle of an exercise, I tried to ask her something and all of a sudden...my cheek got hooked onto my pokey wire in the back of my mouth! It wasn't just a simple poke - it was IMPALED! I had to use one hand to grab my cheek and the other hand to move the wire out of the way. I actually heard it "pop" when i came loose. The trainer just laughed and said "Forgot your wax??"

Lesson of the day: Keep hydrated, AND use your wax!

Funny this thread should pop up....

Last week I made a spnach salad to go with dinner. We had some friends over. I'm talking and laughing; having a grand 'ole time. After dinner I went to clean my teeth....gasp...oh the horror!

I had a huge peice of spinach in my braces! My dear husband forgot the "you have something in your braces signal".

This was just as embarassing as the time I spit while talking in my friends food. Darn braces!

Enjoy your day!

A couple of days ago, I had just gotten finished eating a few black olives when someone knocked on my door. It was the guy who cuts the grass and wanted to ask a few questions. We had been talking for three or four minutes when I thought - OMG, I bet I have black olives all in my braces! I was so paranoid. As soon as he left, I raced to the mirror, and thankfully, it wasn't too bad. Next time I'll swish real quick before answering the door!
