Aradia252's Braces Story :) -- Updated pics 10/24!

#1 Post by Aradia252 »

Even though I’m just at the beginning of this process, I thought that I would start my Braces Story. I’m 20 years old (21 in 2 months… counting down!!) and a senior in college. I’ve always known that I had crooked teeth, but when I was younger I decided that they “weren’t that badâ€

WELCOME! :-1
I too had the "my teeth are not that bad" attitude. Until one day I realized they WERE that bad!

Looking forward to watching your progress!

Well I finally got up a picture of my teeth in braces. This was taken on the 5th day of being braced. Note the lovely black dot in the middle, which is just now finally starting to fade. I will definitely post a new picture once I start to see some changes. :)

So here I am now, in my first week of top braces. I have ceramics (there’s no way I would have been able to get braces if they were metal…. I would have hid in a closet for the next 2 years) and right now a tooth-colored wire.

I have full metal braces, and I have never felt the need to hide in my closet, braces are beautiful, plain and simple.

Just an update on my story..... At my first adjustment, the ortho slenderized my top teeth. I also got a new wire and powerchains on all but my front four teeth. They gave me clear ligatures this time instead of the wire ties. I'm not liking them at all because they've already started getting discolored (it's been 9 days) and I haven't even eaten any of the "staining foods." Anyways, I'm already starting to see some movement, which is encouraging. My next appointment is to get my spacers in (really not looking forward to that). Then a week later, I'm going to be getting an Arnold Expander on my lower arch (not looking forward to that either). I'll post some new pictures soon!! :)

Aradia252's Braces Story --- Progress Pic!

#7 Post by Aradia252 »

I have my first progress picture to show everyone. I think that there are some minor changes here from the first picture I took. The arch wire has straightened out a little bit at least. I'm getting my Arnold expander on Monday for the lowers!!

I've had my lower expander for about three weeks now and I have to say that I am really happy with it. I was REALLY worried about it because I didn't want a lisp or an extremely full mouth. I did have a lisp for three days, but it went away quickly. I was used to my expander in about 5 days. So those of you out there dreading a lower expander, it might not be that bad :) . I'm gettin the lower braces on Oct 7th. I'll new pictures soon :D
