I was heavily banded shut for 6 weeks and on a strict liquid diet. I'm 4 months post op now and I'm still in light bands. 6 weeks seems like a long time, but it's definitely doable and the end results are worth it!

I had a cool mist humidifier that I used at the hospital and I had one at home in my room too. It helped greatly with loosening the blood clots and I was able to breath much easier whenever it was on.

OneGuy, I was banded shut completely for three weeks with four rubber bands on each side of my mouth. After my third post op visit Posnick taught me how to change the bands myself so I could take them off three times a day for an hour at a time. At this point you're lightly banded so you could defin...

Range of Motion

Hello everyone! I had upper and lower jaw surgery on December 18th and I had the splint and bands removed yesterday. It was a very long five weeks, but I'm finally able to eat soft solid foods again! It's been wonderful. I'm very happy with the results thus far. I'm just wondering how long it usuall...

Oneguy, I had both jaws moved and a genio along with removal of my wisdom teeth. My upper jaw was moved 5mm and my lower jaw was moved 7mm so it was large movements for both my jaws. I was only in braces for 6 months prior to my jaw surgery. This is a rather short time compared to others, but I also...

I had surgery on December 18th to correct my open bite. I also had a long face and a gummy smile. I had upper and lower jaw surgery and a genio to solve my problems. I know in some cases a genio is not required, but in my case it was strongly encouraged. I also had lip incompetence prior to the surg...

On December 18th I had surgery with Dr. Jeffrey Posnick and I could not be happier with the results. He is not only an outstanding surgeon, but a person who generally wants to help people. The only downside to having him conduct the surgery is he accepts no insurance companies. Although the surgery ...

24 hours post op

So I made it through surgery!! It started yesterday at 11 and I had upper, lower, genio, septioplasty, reduction of turbinates, and removal of all wisdom teeth. I'm attempting to drink from a cup, but it's difficult with such swollen lips. I feel very swollen and have some bruising around my chin an...

Encouragement Appreciated!!

So Thursday is the big day! I'm having upper and lower jaw, genio, and all wisdom teeth out. I'm very excited, but extremely nervous at the same time. I trust my surgeon, but I've never been in the hospital before so don't really know what to expect. I'm thinking once I get there and get settled dow...

Wisdom Teeth

So two weeks from today I'll be having my jaw surgery!! I'm very excited and I can't wait for the whole thing to be over with. I'm having upper and lower jaw surgery along with a genio and probably all four wisdom teeth removed. I find out for sure if I'm getting them removed on Monday. I know from ...

Don't worry you aren't the only one!! I'm in braces for the third time also. It's not easy in the beginning, but it definitely gets easier. I've had my braces on this time around for five months now and I barely notice them anymore. Just hang in there and everything will be fine :)

I'm really looking forward to the surgery, but I'm not looking forward to not being able to eat a great Christmas dinner :( But oh well, I'll make up for it as soon as my 5 weeks of liquid diet are up . Spiral, I'm sorry to hear about your appendix. Hopefully everything can go ahead as planned with ...

I'll be in braces for 5 months before my surgery. Shorter than most people, but I had braces twice before this time around. I'm still pretty lucky. The ortho thinks about 3 months before I get them off after the surgery.
