I got my powerchains on today/plus the return of my sure smile wires (had to go for heavy duty wires to close some stubborn gaps) and a WHOLE LOTTA PAIN...

...I can't even bite into a banana at the moment...so I can certainly empathize with your pain.

Hang in though....the end result is worth it!

Congratulations on getting braced! It is a big step!

Your post reminds me of my first days getting braced....I'm near the end! 10 more weeks!

I chose braces in order to avoid further problems down the road (I had a really bad bite).

Let's face it, bite pads suck....they've taken all the joy of eating away.

Food just doesn't taste the same!

To be able to chew on lettuce properly is something I can't wait for. I love salads...

Giovanni, Man, I feel for you. I could take teeth pain, but the pain in my mouth due to the brackets slicing and dicing were out of this world :shock: ! I rinsed with hot water almost ever day to help deal with the pain and used wax, but I hated wax and decided not to use it....I've never gone back ...

The irritation and sores stopped about a week and a half into my start with braces. Now, I sometimes forget they are there....

I have them too and it sucks....you just need to adapt your chewing....and it will become less annoying.However, I cannot eat lettuce...it is just way too gross swallowing chunks of lettuce leaf....

I've given up a lot of foods because of them for the time being...once they are off, I'll be so happy.

Most definately use the credit card if you don't carry balances. I don't so that is why I went with credit card payments. I pay in full every month so that is not an issue. However, if you do carry a balance, then using this method for paying off your treatment is unwise...the interest rates are ins...

If your top teeth are hitting your bottom brackets, you need to go back to your ortho and get molar build ups. I had your same issues and they adhered these globs of composite strategically on my molars (on each side) so that my top front teeth don't hit my brackets.... I haven't had my molars meet ...

I have upper ceramic and lower metal.

I notice no difference between the two except for the fact that the ceramic are less noticable on the teeth.

I disagree. I think adults are breaking ground in the destruction of the 'nerd satus' of brace wearers.

I get all kinds of comments from teens who know me and think that it's really cool that I'm wearing them!

I try and brush after every meal, but it is hard when life gets in the way of dental care... .

Try to rinse out with water when you can't get to brushing right away.
