How come 3 weeks before my appointment all I read is stuff like this xTc - Don't be discouraged, just be prepared. A few things are worse than I thought, but others are better. These braces may be a very serious pain in the ass, but they are a necessary evil. I think that of my options, ibraces wer...

Orthos are sadists and braces are torture devices.

I took the plunge so to speak and got upper and lower ibraces a few days ago. In that time I have come to the conclusion that orthos are sadists and braces are torture devices. That's makes us masochists and we pay for the privilege. My biggest problem is that I can't speak properly. With effort and...

Relocating and Changing Orthos During Treatment

Has anyone else done this, switched from one ibraces provider to another during treatment? I'm getting ibraces on next month, and I'll probably need to keep them on for about two years. I've delayed treatment long enough and can't put it off any more. The problem is that I will probably only stay in...

Thanks again everyone. Especially since my ortho isn't that open to questions, I have really depended on some of what I've learned here!

I'm Going for It

I'm going all in and getting ibraces on both top and bottom in early September. I'm sure I will be back here with more questions once they're on. I'm hoping that I'll be one of the lucky ones who has little to no speech problems after the first days and weeks, but I doubt that I will actually be tha...

I'm going through the same thing in about seven weeks, so I feel for you. I'm getting more nervous by the day and can only advise you to do the same thing that I've been doing: keep thinking of how great it will be when your teeth are straight and remember that each day takes you closer to that. Als...

I'm getting iBraces soon. Any tips?

I'm going for the records appointment soon to work out the details and have the molds made for iBraces on the top and bottom. Is there anything that anyone wishes they had done or asked at this point, before the braces were made and applied or soon after? The only thing that comes to mind that I hav...

Yes, all of this has helped a lot. Thanks! Everything I've learned has me leaning towards iBraces on both top and bottom. Now I just have to figure out how to pay for them. Hearing that the lower iBraces don't interfere with speech as much is especially reassuring. Unless the pain is just so bad it ...

I'm glad to hear that regular braces did not cause you too much pain Meryaten. It's interesting that the parts that did cause pain were the ones on the lingual side, but I don't know enough about cleats/seating lugs to compare them with lingual brackets on molars or iBraces in particular. I've heard...

Still Undecided on iBraces vs. Clear on Bottom Teeth

I actually did ask my ortho about this choice and he said that from a treatment standpoint each was fine, so it came down to a personal choice. When I pressed for details about the relative comfort and practicality of each type I got a similar answer. There is, of course, a big price difference betw...

Should I get iBraces or clear brackets on the bottom?

First of all, I want to thank all of you for your posts. I'm just restarting the process of getting braces and the information I've found here has been really helpful. I am definitely getting iBraces on top but can't decide between iBraces and clear (labial) ones for the bottom. I know each type com...
