Re: How soon after surgery will I be able to take a holiday?
Thanks for your responses - all very encouraging! I really don't intend to go on any big scary rides so that's not an issue. Laundraholic - I'll doublecheck the age thing. We're going to Disneyland in Paris as we live in the UK and most of the ads I've seen say kids under seven stay and play free. ...

Re: How soon after surgery will I be able to take a holiday?
The age for kids at Disney is 3 to 9, so they're only considered "adults" price-wise for tickets and the meal plan if they're 10 and over.
So if you NEED to postpone the trip until after his 7th birthday, it shouldn't effect the cost.

Re: Anyone who had just a Le Fort 1?
I had a Lefort 1 in March. The recovery was MUCH easier than I had anticipated. The surgeon had stated there was little to no risk of permanent nerve damage with a Lefort (as oppposed to the BSSO). I needed absolutely no painkillers at all -- as I was numb there was no pain whatsoever. My feeling in...

Re: MARCH 2011 BUDDIES
I'm now about 9 1/2 weeks post-op. Last visit with my oral surgeon (at 6 weeks post-op) he was very pleased with the bite and said the next time I needed to see him was when the braces were removed. Saw my orthodontist yesterday. The bite is very good -- he told me to stop using the elastics (I was ...

Re: Heres My Story
Second question is, i was told i would be wired shut for 6 weeks afterward and i know from experience that when i wake up from sediation i feel sick, so what happens if you get sick when your mouth is wired shut? and my last question, do they have to insert any type of breathing tubes/feeding tubes...

I think you really need to ask your doctor rather than depend on advice received from an internet forum.
What reason do you have for not wanting to ask him/her?

Re: MARCH 2011 BUDDIES
Wahoo, saw the surgeon for a check up and he said I could eat whatever felt 'comfortable'. I have been eating everything in sight! Look out! Rick Really? Even biting into a pizza? What about nuts?! Tomorrow is exactly 6 weeks for me and I have an appointment with the oral surgeon. He had originally...

Re: Just Had Minor Jaw Surgery Yesterday
Interesting... what type of surgery did you originally have? My surgeon never talked about a possibility that another surgery may be required to remove titanium... was this surgery always an option presented to you or was it necessary because of complication from the original surgery? And what is th...

Re: MARCH 2011 BUDDIES
No idea when the braces come off. Had appointments with both my surgeon and the ortho today -- both agree that the bite is looking really good and everything is progressing well. Was told by the surgeon that I'm still supposed to be on VERY soft chew until about 6 weeks after surgery (I'm now 3 wee...

Re: MARCH 2011 BUDDIES
So I had my surgical hooks removed by my orthodontist on Thursday and he just put rubber bands on my braces (no adjustments yet), but I noticed Saturday morning that my midline, which was perfect post surgery, has moved about a mm or 2. Since I am only about 2.5 weeks post op, it isn't possible tha...

Re: For all freaking out about their face at one month post-
THIS is the post I was looking for... I didn't realize it was from that long ago. I remembered this post yesterday when I was freaking out at 10 days post-op that this may be my "final face". From what I remember, the OP posted this because at that time (back in 2008) a lot of people on th...

Re: Iron Supplement
It wasn't mentioned to me either.
The only thing they mentioned was to stay away from aspirin or ibuprofen for a week prior to the surgery, as they potentially thin your blood.

Re: Is this normal or have I really screwed up my face?
shutmymouth, you're beautiful and your profile looks amazing! Any pics of how your profile used to look? I went through the same thing yesterday (at 10 days post-op) about whether or not I made a big mistake... freaking out that this is my "final look". My swelling has come down a lot from...

Re: MARCH 2011 BUDDIES
I just want to be able to eat CORN ON COB, APPLES and SANDWHICHES! I love food by the way so that part of the recovery is just killing me. I am actually at work (yes, I did return after one week), and I am pretty tired, but things seems to be going well since sitting at home was driving me insane. ...
