Re: Is this a bad result?

I couldn't see the pictures last night when I posted, probably because I was a new member, so I just wanted to post again and say I think you look very pretty. There is absolutely no reason that someone who looks like you cannot get a job so just get out there and do it. Looks matter a little bit b...

Re: Is this a bad result?

Are the pictures you posted of you 'forcing' your smile? Because they don't look at all gummy or gappy. In fact, I think you're quite beautiful! I had an ortho rip my smile to shreds a few years ago, and the emotional impact of that visit has been with me ever since. I've been lucky enough to find ...

Re: Is this a bad result?

Your surgeon should have told you there was the possibility you could like your appearance after the surgery less than before. My surgeon told me it is actually fairly common. It is really hard to not be happy with how you look. I have a lot of those issues myself. I am trying to decide if it is wo...

Is this a bad result?

In August 2010 I had upper jaw surgery to correct an underbite. If i'm honest, my expectations of the surgery were pretty high, not helped by my surgeon who wasn't the most tactful of people... he basically ripped my appearance to shreds in my first consultation, but told me not to worry because &qu...

NHS nose job after surgery?

I am two years post-op (upper jaw surgery to correct an underbite). My self-confidence was already very low before I had surgery, making me terribly shy, paranoid and quite low sometimes but I fully expected things to change after the operation. But I could tell from the minute the swelling went dow...

Hello everybody, had my upper jaw moved forward 9 days ago! It all went very smoothly and I didnt need strong painkillers for long, so I got discharged the next day :) Niggly pain but paracetamol sorts that out, hardly any bruising, and my swelling peaked at the end of last week and is coming down n...

Jaw surgery and music festivals! And NHS timings...

So, I am 19 and definitely having my jaw surgery this summer, thank god! I'm not sure of the exact dates yet but I am having another consultation with my surgeon and a face bow made in May... i'm hoping that will mean the surgery will be in June sometime? Could anyone whose had surgery done in the U...

And in response to your question, PJ is right - talk to them as soon as possible as there is no point in going through such a major surgery only to still be unhappy with your appearance at the end of it.

Hello Mart, just read through this thread and it looks like your treatment is progressing well :D I know EXACTLY what you mean in your last post, it is absolutely hideous having all those orthodontists looking at you at once... your experience infact sounds so similar to mine that I was wondering if...

Even if you are having it for functional reasons there are cosmetic elements involved too (and the cosmetic bits are the bits most obvious to outsiders) which makes the whole topic a bit delicate for friends- people don't want to hurt your feelings by agreeing that there is something wrong with your...

Hi, I had my impacted canine exposed when I was 15 and got it taken off last year at 17. I think I might have had it longer as I'm getting my underbite sorted though, and it stayed until my top teeth were ready for traintracks without my bottom teeth biting them off, but if you are literally just ha...

Hmmm well the first (and only so far) time I met surgeon he said "see you in 18 months" which brings it to the end of July/beginning of August. I plan to hassle my orthodontist at my adjustment next week to see if i'm actually on track, i've been quiet and patient so far! I still have gaps...
