Re: How far apart should the upper and lower incisors be?
Your bite is extremely good...Your top and bottom teeth shouldn't touch at all. The normal is 1 to 3 mm of "overjet".

Re: Random General Questions Post-Op
Your surgeon should have given you post-op instructions. I think almost all surgeons ask you not to blow your nose or hold a sneeze for at least 10 to 14 days. Mine said no blowing of the nose for 3 weeks. The reason is because you have blood clots in the posterior area of your nose and in your sinu...

I'm gonna try one more bump of this to see if anybody else has had a post-surgical sliding genioplasty...If so I'd love to hear about it!

Re: Palate expander?
There are many posts on this board if you search that unequivocally state that non surgical expansion in an adult is both impossible and potentially detrimental to your long term oral health. To put it simply, if you are an adult and your jaw bones are fused, the only way to achieve skeletal expansi...

Re: Please Help!!...Trouble breathing after surgery (nasal)
Ugh...Just reading these stories brings back horrible flash backs for me. I had the EXACT same issues with the breathing, and the first 5 days post-op were probably the worst days of my life. I had both nostrils completely blocked with blood, and I was so swollen and banded shut it was even difficul...

Re: Genioplasty After Bi-Max?
Hi redblondefox! Yes, I remember you...glad you're doing well. You'll have to come back to this post and let me know how your genio goes. I think the implant is much less invasive, but still it will be good to get an opinion. I haven't quite decided if I'm going to do this or not, but I think I will...

Re: having surgery again in april
I'm really sorry you have to have another surgery, but do know that this one should be quicker and easier to recover from. Yes, it will be hard, but you've been through it before and you know what to expect. Knowing is half the battle with this surgery... Be strong, and seek help if you need it. You...

Re: SEPTEMBER 2010 BUDDIES!!
Stephie, I wear the essix (clear) containers on top and bottom during the day. At night I wear a hawley on top and the same essix on the bottom. I agree the clear retainers are kind of a pain - They do impact your speech somewhat (although you get used to this), they "collect" saliva which...

Genioplasty After Bi-Max?
Hi There, I am wondering if anybody out there elected to have a genioplasty after they had double jaw surgery? As a refresher, my surgeon worked up my case with and without the genioplasty. I didn't see the final projections until I was in the surgical holding area on the day of surgery. At the time...

Re: before/after pics
That is a PERFECT result...You should be thrilled. I **completely** understand how overwhelmed you can feel from this surgery and the end results...even when the aesthetic results are stellar such as in your case. I highly recommend that you seek counseling if you feel it will help you, as I know yo...

Re: NO SURGERY for me :(.
IWantANewSmile, Please go get a couple of opinions before you move forward with the extraction approach...extractions are irreversible and sometimes they are not the right approach and can make things worse (on the flip side sometimes they are the right approach). It sounds like that treatment plan ...
