Re: MARCH 2011 BUDDIES

I wonder if any of my buddies are still around? Looking back now, jaw surgery was one of the easiest things I've ever done. Even at the time, the only bad thing was the nausea and that disappeared after a week. If anyone is reading this, get the surgery!!

Re: Really worried

Thanks guys, that's really reassuring. I've been told that I can get equally good work done by public surgeons, most of whom are as experienced if not more so than some private surgeons, was just wondering why some people still insist on picking a surgeon instead of taking the public route. Awesome...

Re: After jaw surgery, DOES THE JAW STOP GROWING?

... I am afraid that this surgery I am having in a few months will stop the growth of my jaw. I dont want to ask my doctor for personal reasons. Please someone answer this for me, thank you. If you're 17, I wouldn't be in any hurry and might even put it off a couple of years until you're sure you'r...

Re: Really worried

The Royal Melbourne Hospital is where I had my surgery done and I'm very happy with the whole experience. I knew who one of my surgeons was definitely going to be and I got to meet with him a few times before, even as a public patient. The second surgeon is luck of the draw, plus a couple of student...

Re: Braces - fix lisp

I had a very mild lisp before braces and 2 years, 3 months into treatment I still have a very mild lisp. I had jaw surgery too. If it doesn't bother you - who cares?! :D

Re: MARCH 2011 BUDDIES

Day 7 post op!!! I was EXTREMELY naughty today and ate some KFC Popcorn Chicken. 'Ate' might be exaggerating... I crushed it with my fingers, smothered it in gravy and slid it down my throat. :P Today is also the first day since surgery that I haven't felt nauseous! That was by FAR the worst thing a...

Re: MARCH 2011 BUDDIES

Hey everyone, I'm still too exhausted to share my story, but I promise I will when I'm feeling better. I have a few questions and would be very grateful if someone could answer. I had lower jaw advancement and all 4 of my impacted wisdom teeth out. 1. My lower jaw is very far forward, doc said this ...

Surgery doesn't change the way your brain works. You need counseling.

Re: MARCH 2011 BUDDIES

Yeah :( I was told a man came off his motorcycle without a helmet. Why you wouldn't wear a helmet I don't know. They rescheduled me for March 25th, which feels like centuries away when I was meant to be having surgery in 7 hours! I'm finding it hard to see any positives in waiting longer. Except now...

Re: MARCH 2011 BUDDIES

2 sleeps!! I have to be at hospital at 7:00 AM and surgery is scheduled for 8:30 AM. I got my surgery hooks today and they took off my colours (boo!). I'm more excited than scared at this stage. I just hope my mum can stay in my room with me, but I'm 18 now so it's not likely they'll let her...

Braces and thumb sucking

When I got my braces I stopped sucking my thumb cold turkey after sucking it all my life. It was easy until about 2 months ago. I got very sick and let myself suck my thumb for comfort. Stupid but I was VERY unwell and I was doing anything and everything to make me feel the slightest bit better. Now...
