I just wanted to say that to all that are unhappy with your results I hope you are able to find some satisfaction somehow. I felt so upset for you when I read your posts. I can't even imagine the frustration you must be going through....

Sam, I had both upper and lowers down at the same time and I admit that I was miserable (mostly because of the underside and back of the tongue) during the first days. I know you've heard it all before but wax, soft foods, Orajel (for me) was what got me through. Hang in there. It gets much better a...

Got my "date"

I'm so excited that I need to share with people who can understand. I have my appointment scheduled to get my linguals off. On 10/20/08, I will be brace free!!! Like just about everyone here, I struggled initially (maybe more than most). I had tongue pain, teeth pain, jaw pain, and BIG TIME trouble ...

Just FYI, I live in Georgia (so the cost info isn't useful) but I "financed" my braces through a program the ortho offered (called Orthocare, I believe). No interest and something like 36 months to pay them off (so it was "free" financing). It was a third party. Good luck!

Step back from that ledge, my friend. It will only continue to get better. You will adapt and overcome and, ultimately, you will have a beautiful smile. It's tough to believe when you're going through it, but it is worth it. Hang in there. Also, remember, that whatever speech problems you're having ...

That's an interesting idea, xtc. Just a guess, I don't think it would be very reliable but it definitely doesn't hurt to try!!! I'd bet that you'll adapt fairly quickly and that you'll hear it more than anyone else does. Most people say they can't hear my lisp (unless I've had a couple of adult beve...

I have iBraces. The speech thing REALLY seems to be dependent on the person. I had a lot of trouble but most people don't seem to. I really think we hear it more inside our heads than other people. I did find it improved doing the "standard" speech improvement things (I know this sounds si...

I don't want to discourage anyone but my lisp never completely went away. I hear it but people I meet don't necessarily. It definitely got a LOT better after the initial few weeks but never went away completely. However, I can put up with it ( and have). If I get a sore tongue it comes back pretty b...

They left my bite blocks alone but if you're concerned definitely ask them about it.

My ortho did not clean my teeth at all but I did go see my regular dentist more often than normal to get them to clean them (ahhh...what a good feeling).

I think everyone is different but I didn't get a new wire at every adjustment (nowhere near). With me, they weren't able to tie in all the teeth at once so as motion happened they tied in more and more teeth. My teeth were usually sore after an adjustment for a day or so but I didn't go through new ...

I just wanted to chime in and wish you the best! I don't have advice but I hope others can help you out. Good luck and keep good thoughts! I am one (I think of the very few) that never adjusted and I still have a lisp after 1.5 years but, I believe that is rare and I'm sure you will find a solution....

Sorry you're having a hard time. I know NOTHING about specific kinds of lingual braces but I had a very hard time and felt just like you described on the first day. It took a little time but I (and my mouth and tongue) adjusted. I didn't feel much "pressure" at first but my teeth moved ver...
