my lisp def gets worse if my tounge is sore, from ulcers or talking too much, and if i speak quickly... especially if im drunk!

Yes pretty normal to have wobbly teeth with all braces - theyve got to move somehow, right?! :wink:

Im 6 weeks in and still have a slight lisp. It's a lot better than at the beginning though and I just have to keep reminding myself to speak slower.

Im not sure if you ever lose the lisp 100% with linguals...

Ok - in case anyone's interested - all my ortho did was change the ligs. I will only have 3 different archwires for the whole treatement, made of different materials so they do different jobs on my teeth at various stages. The ligs apply the forces on the wire but after a few weeks they wear out so ...

Ah thanks Saps - that's good to know - so did you get new bite blocks?

Also when you go in do they clean your teeth at all? Much as I'm trying to do my best after every meal, I'm sure they can do a better job...

Doesnt the wax come off when you eat/brush anyway? I find i rarely need to get it off.. it's keeping it on that's the problem!!

At the beginning they all felt wobbly and sensitive.

Im now 5 weeks in and it's only one or two that wobble... different ones are wobbly on different days...!

1st adjustment

Having (just) survived the last 5 weeks, I'm relieved to report that things are improving! Yey! My lisp has mostly gone, mouth ulcers are much smaller and less frequent, my teeth are hardly sensitive at all and I'm even eating proper food - although still rather limited! I just couldnt imagine this ...

Ulcers - ive had loads and at the beginning they were huge!! This is the best stuff www.archwired.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=27603 If youre not in the UK, maybe you can take the details to a pharmacist and ask for an equivalent - seriously it's much better than bonjela. They will get better but mine...

I was quoted £4000 all-in in london for invisalign fro 12mths (dont know details what's included in that)... def seems more expensive in the UK..

the other thing is that i would have done anything to rip off my braces in the first few days just to relive the pressure... fortunately with linguals i couldnt!

For me the tops cause the lisp but that goes after first few weeks. The bottom linguals definitely cause more problems becasue theyre in your tounge's space! So I still get ulcers which get wose the more i speak. My job means I'm on the phone all day so it my tounge swells up as the brackets rub aga...
