Tea-drinking Brits

Honzpipe Yes, I'm afraid we do drink rather a lot of tea, although many of us are branching out into coffee and herbal infusions. I don't think it's because we're a particularly thirsty bunch, It could be because it perks us up and just seems to help us get through things - if you get our soap Easte...

Essix more out than in?

I seem to be whipping out my Essix retainer rather often for eating and drinking. I didn't realise how much of a grazer I was till now and you know how much tea we Brits drink. I hope it's not affecting how my teeth are settling into their new positions as it's supposed to be in 24/7 for three weeks...

They're off, but disappointment and dents

I was de-bonded a week ago. There wasn't quite the wow factor others have experienced on this site. I was shocked at how stained my teeth were and the dark triangles between them seem even more pronounced than when they were in braces. They looked a bit better after a scrape and polish with the dent...

Unequal brackets

A couple of months ago, I lost a brace-tube on my upper right second molar. The ortho didn't put it back and although the tooth drifted out of line, it didn't seem to affect my bite. Now though, 12 days away from de-bracing, my upper right first molar feels out of place. In the past fortnight, I hav...

Hi orangetammy In the middle of my treatment to correct an overbite and crowded bottom teeth, I felt I looked like a horse. I had prominent first incisors, which made me look goofy, but as the top lot became aligned, they were ALL pushed out, giving me a very equine appearance, which I hated. I'm ab...

Belated thanks for all your tips

Thanks for all your tips, I've tried each one and now do a variation depending on my mood, as they all work really. I don't have vari-speed on my Waterpik, just off and on, but I have noticed a bit of sensitivity since using it. I do, however, have two types of tip, low pressure and high pressure. I...

Waterpik users

Can anybody give me any Waterpik tips to avoid turning the bathroom into Wet and Wild and oneself into a wet T-shirt contestant?

I've tried closing my lips while squirting, but can't really focus on an individual tooth that way.

Cheers

Hi Freya Snap. It must be a Brit thing. I was about 9 and my mum also refused to allow me to have braces. Mind you, I needed some teeth out and it was reported in the news at that time that someone had died under anaesthetic, so I think she was also put off by that. More recently, it was my own dent...

Black triangles

Hi Kirst I've got black triangles between most of my teeth because of their shape, narrow at the root, wide at the ends. My ortho said he can help to lessen the gap by shaving the sides, which he has done twice now (I'm in my 14th month), but only to an extent. If he does it too much, my teeth will ...
