Thanks Meryaten and alexa for the kind words! Waiting list for sensitivity training - I love it! Momof3: I am so excited for you! Are your daughters excited? In addition to the three of us in my family that have braces, my 9-year-old daughter has a thumb guard (placed June 27, 2006), so all four of ...

Okay, now I'm depressed. As you know, my son and I got braced together, February 9, 2005. We're still in them with no end in sight... My daughter got her braces February 8, 2006 - almost a year later to the day! - and hers come off at our next appointment, May 9th. Granted, her teeth obviously weren...

johnt89,

I haven't visited the board in 9 months and when I do - I read your story! Wow - how are you doing? I'd love to hear an update about your progress!

Meryaten,

You are a hoot! Your post got me thinking... I had a very close girlfriend that had a baby when we were 16; that makes her baby 23 now. OMG!!!

Ahh, what I know as turbo bites. (At least behind the two front teeth.) I had them as well. Your bite is different because your teeth can't touch. Elastics may come into play after you get them ground off, but you won't know until then. I've never heard of someone needing turbo bites and molar build...

I think this may become our own personal thread! I love "parallel universe" stuff - I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. I have a woman that I work with, and if I didn't absolutely know we weren't related, I would think we're twins. It's freaky how our lives have been ...

If I've learned nothing else from this forum over the last year... it's that each Doctor is different and no two treatment plans are the same.

Shout out to anyone who sees their ortho at least once a month - let's have a roll call!

See if your husband has a flexible spending account through his work. My husband does and it allows us to spend up to 7500.00 per calendar year in pre-tax dollars for medical/dental not covered by insurance. The entire amount is available at the beginning of the calendar year and deductions are take...

I couldn't live without my oral irrigator. If I don't "blast" my teeth after brushing and flossing, I don't feel completely clean either. I also use a splash of listerine or scope in the water and love how it makes my mouth feel fresh. Give one a try!

pruettmj, Hi! We're a household soon to number three in braces! I (Mommy, 39) and Son, 13, got braced together on 2-9-05. He had a lip bumper for about ten months and just got his lower braces put on. My eleven year old daughter just had upper second bicuspids and lower first bicuspids removed last ...

Patronizing is the exact word I kept thinking throughout this entire thread. Don't take the word of a twenty-something assistant, give the doctor the benefit of the doubt that he gave you the wire for a purpose and tell him you're wanting to be pro-active in your treatment. (A good analogy to use is...

calley03,

How long have you had your braces? What is the ortho trying to correct? What is a bite plate?

I'm not a doctor, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night...

Seriously, turbo bites only prevent your top teeth from hitting the brackets on your lower teeth. They don't affect treatment time (unless you count breaking off lower brackets as a delay in treatment.)
