Re: horseback riding?

4 months after I had surgery (upper/lower/genio) - I went to run back to the car when it started to rain and it wasn't pleasant.

I'd get the go ahead from the surgeon. I think you should be fine walking the horse, but trotting or running, I think will make you extremely uncomfortable.

Re: should children visit you in hospital after surgery?

I was told by my surgeon not to have children come into the hospital! Personally I wouldn't allow any of them in on the first day (that is from watching my sister and DP reactions on the first day), I'd let the 3 older ones in maybe the next day as for the 3 year old - if you can wait a little longe...

Re: Personal ladies question

I've had my period when I've had other surgeries and they have told me to use a pad, not a tampon. As for when you have jaw surgery, you might be better using a pad as you will be too uncomfortable to put your head foward - even just a little bit! Don't worry about the nurses, they've seen it all. I...

Re: Any adults in their 40's on here?

Minerva - I'm not quite 40, but not far off turning 39! I have before and after pics in my post called 'One year on...' HTH As for the sagging skin, I do have a little, but I don't know if it's to do with age or sagging skin. dtdtdt - hang in there, it took me a good 3 months before I started to fee...

Re: One year on (before and after pics)...

I started off with the clear retainers that fit over the teeth, my teeth moved with them and I now have the Hawley Retainers on bottom and top. Bottom one is only on at night - and yes it's tight when I put them on. But it's been 8 months and if I leave the top retainer out, say for a meeting at wor...

One year on (before and after pics)...

It's been a year (well 2 days time it will be) since I had upper/lower jaw surgery with Genioplasty and Turbinectomy due to OSA! It's been a bit of roller coaster ride to say the least! But it's been a year now and I'm finally accepting the 'new' me. But it's taken me along time to get there. Person...

Re: HELP!! 7 months post op, but excruciating pain today..

I'm not a Dr or anything - but where about's in your jaw is it?

Reason I ask, do you think it could be radiating from the root of a tooth? eg from the tooth, down the root into the jaw?

If the pain is that bad, insist that you see your surgeon or even your ortho to check it out?

Re: Is everyday pain typical at 7 months post-op??

Hi Jonathon I'm coming up to 12 months since my op - I had the same surgery as yourself, bar the widening of the upper jaw. I get cracking type sounds (only way I can describe it) whenever I yawn. I also mentioned to my surgeon, at my last appoint, that my jaw aches if I talk or smile too much. I th...

Re: Surgery recovery and KISSING

It's nearly 12 months since the op... Like someone mentioned earlier, you will have to go gently at first. I found also I had to learn how to kiss again because of the way my lips were. But like they say, practise makes perfect. Oh and yes it is strange for your partner to kiss you and not feel his ...

Re: November Buddies

Oh no Beowulf - I'm sorry to hear that! Let me know how you go with it all. As for me - I still haven’t had the final sleep study done as I haven’t gotten the go ahead yet. But I see my surgeon again in Sept. I have been fitted with Hawley Retainers and I wear the bottom one nightly now, but unfortu...
