hey avfc! :) i've also had serious problems eating in the beginning of my treatment and it got better month by month. actually now, after having braces for more than 14 months and after each visit to my ortho the pain is actually minimal and it's much easier to eat. just skip food which asks for muc...

@ meryaten look, just to get one thing clear. i couldn't care less if you're brushing your teeth after every meal or every breath you take. i also couldn't care less if you'd run to the restroom(s) and brush your teeth everywhere you might be. and i sure don't care what your dentist is telling you. ...

so the dentist will charge you more for doing new fillings. whether it's on a type of braces system or fixing a cavity or even doing a root canal, you name it. Sorry - gotta disagree again. My ortho and my dentist are in no way affiliated with each other and my ortho would not gain financially in a...

Whislt it is probably true that elastomeric ties tend to support bacteria more than self-ligating brackets (I did read an academic study to that effect), proper oral hygiene should mitigate any increased risk adequately. However, boxerinno, your assertion here is faulty: but that makes sense. food ...

Actually I have to respectfully disagree with this. My ortho uses damons because he can make MORE money with them. 1) he charges more 2) he can have appointment further aparts Adjustments are usually either a lig change or a wire change. With Damons since you don't have to have an appointment for j...

An interesting thought boxerinno ... but I think if there was any truth in it, all our orthos would be using self ligating brackets. My ortho did use damons ... but has stopped due to having too many problems with breakages and doors jamming ... plus other issues he didn't share with me. Again this...

hey mominbraces, :) i've been there where you are right now. i even had an emotional outbreak today, cause my ortho told me i will most probably have to say bye bye to my first left lower biscupid (cause my left central is not really positioning itself as it should). and that hurts me a lot, since m...

after years of buying one of europe's best toothpase - elmex. and using their mouthwash, day toohpaste aronal, floss and weekly fluoridization gel treatment. which have actually given me really great results in preventing decay, i've switched (like a month ago) to this all natural toothpaste from it...

i felt pressure from my braces for a month or so after i got my braces. in the beginning the pressure was so high that only cold water helped me to ease up this discomfort. and yeah, i don't remember clenching my teeth either. i have actually forgotten all about that by now, but yes, we al had that....

hey leah, :D well, i went to my ortho today (got squeezed in, lucky me) and she was kind of inconclusive about this. after inspecting my tooth for pain (with those metal instruments) and since i felt no pain whatsoever, she said this is going on simply because the tooth is moving into a new position...

for the past 7-8 days i have this strange sensation on the top of my upper right cuspid. meaning, when i drink something (no matter if it's warm or cold) i get a feeling like my tooth has just slightly moved. or when i touch the root tip between my nose and cheek it feels like there's something ther...
