Well, here I am 18-19 months later, and finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. I am supposed to get these things off in August. I really hope that's true. My orthodontist is covering his a** and not being specific. Anyway, should I not get too excited about August? Do you have any experience ...

I think I've lost 8-10 pounds. I hate the feeling of food in my teeth, so I only eat soft foods at home so I can clean! I am trying to buy more milkshakes, etc so I don't lose too much more weight. I am pretty small anyway, so I will be anorexic if I lose another 10 pounds in the next year.

I'm having mine repositioned next week too! It's been one year since I got braces.

My ortho put on my brackets initially, and his assistant put on the wires, chains, etc. He plans it all out and gives them instructions.

As you can see, I've had the braces on for several weeks now. I have not had a non-painful moment in this entire time. I am going by myself to have the 2 teeth behind my bicuspids taken out to make room for movement. Just for an update, my teeth still hurt a lot, and although I am chewing because I'm starving, everything is still really tender. I'm jealous of those of you that can eat a few weeks after braces!

Well, I'm embarassed because of braces generally - but I like talking to the kids about our braces. I get tips from them.

Oh man, my spacers were awful. But hear this. They couldn't put regular spacers in my teeth (which were too tight). They had to force metal spacers in between my teeth. I will never forget that week.
