I've got my tragus, and other cartilidge piercings too. I was told that I should really take them out for surgery, but as you know, it takes ages for them to heal up nicely so I really didnt want to loose them. I replaced them with the plastic retainers before, and turned up on the day with them in....

I agree with Esoteric, a positive outlook on things really does help with recovery. Thats not to say you wont have your down days, or days when you question why you've put yourself through this (God only knows I have, and had many emotional meltdowns in the run up to, and following the surgery)...bu...

Don't worry! Its still really early days! I'm 8 weeks post op and I went through a similar experience with my nose. The swelling is going to make it look wonky, and it'll usually be more pronounced on one side. Even when I smile now one side of my nose kinda splays out more than the other (the amoun...

Thinking of you and your daughter Jane- I really hope that things continue to move towards a happy resolution! It sounds as though you're asking all the right questions, and challenging the 'experts' to justify themselves...you are no doubt a pillar of strength to your daughter, and your love and su...

Hi Moth, I had a Lefort I on the 25th of Feb and went through something similar to you in terms of the mid-line not meeting up straight away. When my surgeon checked my mouth a few hours after the op my teeth didn't meet properly and I was a bit concerned about it. He assured me that during the op t...

There is another thread which answers your question called 'surgeons in the uk'..but I can personally recommend Mr Stephen Dover who did my surgery on 25th Feb at the Queen Elizabeth hospital in Birmingham. He is a very talented surgeon, with a wealth of experience...he totally put me at ease before...

Thanks for the advice Kittenmaisey! The heat is helping to relax my muscles a bit but I think its just a case of riding it out. Luckily I've got an appt with my ortho first thing Monday morning so he'll have no choice but to change them to lighter elastics! ;-) Lol Good luck if you do decide to delv...
