Braces and crowns

I've had my braces since October 1, 2008. I have a few crowns and some old fillings in my mouth (I am 46 years old, these things happen). A couple of weeks ago the orthodontist put some elastics on my braces and said this was to start pull the back teeth and front teeth together to fill in the space...

I'm 45 and recently had 4 pre-molars pulled with just novocaine. I took the day off mainly because I'm a wimp. The pain wasn't a problem but I was worn out emotionally, had to come home and take a nap. I wore the bloody gauze in my mouth for about 4 hours, I think. I doubt my co-workers would have w...

I'm only 2 1/2 weeks into an estimated 2 year journey so I'm not planning anything yet. I guess I'm lucky becuase I'm already eating sandwiches with no problem. My teeth don't show a lot unless I raise my upper lip so while eating in public I just try to keep my lip over my braces to avoid any gross...

Back to the office today because the lig popped off one of the brackets and the wire popped out. Glad the office is near where I live and that I work from home a lot. This particular bracket also has a bumper on top to keep me from biting down it. This is actuallly the third bumper they have put on ...

Can you put wax on the things that are scraping your tongue? I have 2 regular molar bands. The first few days were horrible with my tongue rubbing against the upper molar band. I finally globbed wax on there and figured if I had to, I would buy a case of wax to have for the next 2 years. About 2 day...

Today is day 15 for me. I'm adjusting pretty good. Today I ate salad! I noticed a few teenagers have done a double take when they see my braces LOL A couple of my co-workers are amazed that I would get braces. "WHY? Why go through that pain and trouble?" I think they were trying to say &qu...

I have 2 molar bands - opposite sides of the mouth, one top, one bottom. Neither bother my gums and I have small teeth. The assistant tried various sizes before finding one small enough for my teeth.

Finally got all the mirrors lined up to see what the thing looks like. It is the cleats on the band that I'm feeling. I know she worked hard at trying making it so it wouldn't bother me. I'm getting more accustomed to it but still keeping wax on it a lot.

I just got braces on Oct. 1. I got 2 molar bands put on Friday October 10. The brackets didn't stay on the crowns so they put bands on them. The one on top is bothering my tongue a lot. It's not that it is rough but just that my tongue hits it a lot. I have put wax on it, hoping my tongue will feel ...

Today I had to go back to get bands put on a few molars that have crowns on them. It was a little uncomfortable but not bad. My biggest problem is what to do with my upper lip while I talk LOL. It seems to get stuck on the top of the wire and that feels weird. Probably doesn't look as bad as it feels.

Since I work from home a lot, today was my first day back in the office with my braces. I'm not real close to my co-workers so I had not told them about the braces. One of the men noticed and said "WHY???" as if I had just chopped off a finger. Why? Because my teeth are crowded and ...

I just had 4 pre-molars removed 2 weeks ago. Just remember after the extraction no smoking and no straw sucking. You don't want to get dry socket. My mouth was sore only from the novocaine shots. I stayed away from sharp foods like hard tacos. After a few days I would find myself chewing away on som...
