I just got my braces off about 2 months ago at 49--after 2 years (and surgery). I know it's expensive but I can't imagine that 7k could critically impact the financial implications of 20+ years of retirement. Also, if your dentist is recommending it and you really need it, the cost of problems down ...

Retainer tightness

I've had my hawley retainers for 3 weeks now. l've noticed the bottom one gradually getting tighter and tighter as I take it out and put it back in. Top one is fine.
I wear them religiously only taking them out to eat and brush my teeth.

Is this normal? Should I be concerned?

teeth whitening-- is it bad for the enamel?

I got my braces off 10 days ago. My teeth look soo different and I am really happy with the results. I was planning on getting my teeth whitened right away. I was surprised how much whiter they looked just having the braces removed. But still a little yellow and I'd really like to show off my new sm...

I'm surprised to hear that.

Just got my retainers a few days ago. When reviewing the options with my orthodontist he said the hawleys would last longer.

I was told 2 years give or take a couple months. Just debraced yesterday at 23 months. I was actually ready to be debraced 3 months ago, but there was a misunderstanding that resulted in additional work.

I put it off for 10 years. I finally did it a couple years ago. Best thing I ever did. I thought I would be self conscious about it but it hasn't been that bad. A close friend told me I actually smile more now--I think it's because I'm doing something good for myself rather than hiding the shame of ...

I'm a bit naive on this stuff. When did you get that letter? If you started a procedure and it was submitted by the surgeon a couple of years ago, I would think that the letter is probably for new cases. They can't change their mind as to what's covered mid treatment--you've already gone down a path...

I've been wondering the same. I had lower jaw surgery last December. In March one side started to be hypersensitive instead of just subtly numb. If I scratch under my lip I feel a little bit of nerve pain in the tooth behind it. If I eat or drink something warm that area of my skin will feel warm. I...

Don't worry. I had and overbite, and had surgery. A few hours after they took the splint out and the wires off, my jaw relaxed and I swore I had an underbite. Unfortunately it was Christmas eve, there was no one to call, my orthodontist was gone until after the New Year. I was really freaking out th...

If everything goes well you should be fine. I went to a Christmas party (on Christmas) 10 days after surgery. No one could tell--although I did wear a scarf to cover the bruises. The only problem I encountered is that I was still on soft chew, and couldn't open my mouth very wide to eat for quite a ...

I was just curious what happens if this is observed in the middle of treatment. I just looked at some x-rays (just emailed them to my orthodontist--they were taken by my surgeon for my jaw surgery months ago and weren't sent to my orthodontist) I'm pretty sure I see some when I compare them to my ot...

Root resorption question

What happens in orthodontia when this occurs? Does the whole process stop?
