I think to shunt all the teeth into their final positions, and then the last clear will act as a retainer i think.

I've not had the spring in the back of mine at all... Mine appear to be straight - i guess i was different tho as mine is a protrusive case! I'm actually glad i never had the spring, i think speech would have been a lot harder with it

I'd just like to echo Jules comments! If it gives you a confidence boost i say go ahead. I only have one regret and that is that i had not taken the plunge sooner.
