I used the normal Colgate ones when I had braces, used it with the plastic threader tool - worked like a charm. When I first got braces, my cleaning routine each night took close to an hour (flossing being the most time consuming). But after a while, you get hang of things real quick and flossing wi...

Incisor moving back up?
I was debraced the other day and teeth were looking pretty good, much to my delight. I had to wait 3 days to get my retainers (got them yesterday), only to realise that my upper retainer were not molded properly, which is why I can't put it on fully. So went back to the Ortho's office today to get m...

Okay, an update on my retainers (upper). Upon further inspection last night as I was attempting to put it on, I realised that one side just won't go in properly. So, I tried to put it in as much as it can and left in there while I slept. Went back to the Ortho office this morning, to let her know ab...

White spot - can I get rid of it?
I recently got debraced and noticed that I have a white spot on a tooth. Is there anyway I can get rid of it and rectify the problem? Considering I clean my teeth meticulously, was careful about acidity in my diet and was cavity-free (thank goodness!) when I was debraced, it was a disappointment to ...

Bite issues
Hey guys, as I said in my 'Waiting for retainers' thread, I recently got debraced. But since the brace, I've noticed that my back molars don't meet anymore when I smile or close my mouth. I also have noticed that I've developed a slight lisp now that I've gotten my braces off (I never had a lisp whe...

Oh geez, I'm sorry to hear you're having a hard time with the Essix. I'm waiting to pick up my Essix retainer soon  I don't think they're supposed to be difficult to get it in and out, unless your teeth have shifted. I heard you're supposed to wear it 24/7 (with the exception of meals/brushin...

Thank you both for your responses. It has definitely eased my mind! The ortho did advise that I stick to a 'soft diet' until I get my retainers - but didn't mention why and I forgot to ask, as I was too busy looking at my teeth  Does anyone know why that is? Also, I will be getting the clear pl...

Waiting for retainer
Hello all, I just got debraced today (yay!) - but I have to wait 2-3 days until I get my retainers. Is this a long time? I'm afraid my teeth might move a lot during this time

Thanks guys for replies :) My ortho put two springs on my top arc, but it doesn't hurt and I don't feel any pressure - only when I'm biting on my molars, there's a bit of pressure on the teeth that's attached to the spring, but other than that...nothing o.o We'll see how things go in the 2nd adjustm...

I think as long as your gums don't look infected/inflammed (i.e. bright or dark red), it should be ok. In terms of the picks, I use them all the time as well but I also floss every night. Although the picks are great at getting food particles out (from the braces) and cleaning along the gum line and...
