I had my extractions before having my brace fitted and three out of my four my gaps have only just closed (elastics went on in January). The fourth gap is sooo close to being closed! it's because I have dense bone so it's taking more time Ha, I was told this as well ... seems like a common way of te...

1. Teeth do not move since the last time I checked an hour ago 2. Predicting how much longer I will be in braces is like predicting the lottery 3. Trying to explain to everyone what is going on with my brace whilst pulling my mouth open at the same time to show them will only result in jumbled garba...

I've seen my estimated time in braces come and go and I had such a hard time dealing with it. I've got a big wedding and my holidays coming up in the summer and I'm still not sure if I'm going to be brace free by then! I have given up asking "how much more to do" as it just gets me down. I...

I have a 'gummy' smile as well!! The way I see it though is that I would much rather have a big gummy smile with nice straight teeth than with the ones I had before!! I'm not sure there is anything you can do about it ... so be proud of having such a big, beautiful smile I say!! I also have dense bo...

I feel that I have developed a slight lisp when I talk but no-one else has noticed it. Even when I point it out to people they still can't hear it! Although I have noticed that as my bite has changed that the lisp has also eased!

For some reason I feel awkward about my braces (ceramic) when I am with my husband's colleagues and friends. I get paranoid about the comments that he will get when I am not there (not that he has ever told me if anyone has. And he has mentioned that he would like braces himself after seeing the res...

I've been wearing elastics for almost 2 weeks and haven't felt any pain from them since about 2 days after I started wearing them. Exactly the same for me! I have this constant headache and realized it's probably from the elastics! ... also the same experience I had!! I had a stabbing pain that fel...

I absolutely feel your pain. I went through an incredibly low few months (probably around the 10 month mark as well actually) where I just couldn't face getting up in the morning and looking at my teeth. I have no idea why I felt like that at that point in time and no amount of "it'll be worth ...

First of all welcome along to the forum and well done for getting this far!! I don't know anything technical about the location of the brackets so I can't help you on that one (other than it is perfectly normal to feel paranoid about everything when braces first go on!). One of my brackets that was ...

Don't point at me and then tell your child that if they don't stop sucking their thumb then that is what they will look like (it may be true in some cases but not mine and why do braces have to be portrayed as such a negative thing?!!) Don't just stare at my teeth, I will answer questions (so...

I had the same experience. My teeth were overcrowded and crooked, nothing major but enough for me to research braces. When I finally decided to take the plunge I was *so* excited that I had made a positive decision about something that I had not been happy with for a long time. All of my friends loo...

£2800 sounds about right to me for full ceramics (I'm in the West Midlands). And, although I've got full ceramics on, I'd agree with dblaney about them ... they've helped me from a psychological way of coping with them but you can still tell that I've got a full set of braces on!!

Same as Snaggle Tooth ... I had four extractions (overcrowding, had no choice) and everything seems fine. My face has changed shape but that could be any one of a number of reasons from the extractions themselves to the fact that I have lost over 14 pounds (the most likely reason!!). And, besides, I...
