Surprised he thinks it will take 12 months for this though. Seems you were right to be surprised. I got the linguals removed today. So that was almost exactly 6 months :) I've to go back in about 4 weeks to get a permanent retainer wire bonded onto the back of the incisors. I've got a clear plastic...

Re: Lingualcare availability in the UK

1 of them thankfully did however tell me about an Ortho that does offers linguals reasonably closeby (even though after speaking to them they only use Ormco's). Good stuff. Mine is being done by the Doctor himself and not via a lab manufactured device. Sort of like "normal" orthodontics b...

Re: Lingualcare availability in the UK

Can anyone tell me if there are any Ortho's that offer this treatment in UK, preferrably the North of England? Checkout the list of members of the British Lingual Orthodontics society at http://www.blos.co.uK/orthodontist.htm . That's how I hooked up with my ortho to do lingual braces after calling...

Probably to allow elastics etc. to be fitted to close gaps between teeth as the treatment progresses.

Sleeping is the worst for me.... I got my tongue caught for the first time last night and the pain!!!! Get a gum shield. Can you wear them without wax now? This is the first week I've needed wax. Up to now I've only had brackets on the incisors. At my last appointment about 10 days ago I got 2 new ...

Re: 24 hours with lingual

I have had my upper linguals on for 24 hrs.... no real speech problems but man are these things weird. Sleeping last night was uncomfortable and all I can think about it the metal at the top of my mouth. Are you using a gum shield? I sleep with a mouldable sports one in for my linguals. Maybe when ...

I'm in a very people-facing job and it was tough. Same here. I did notice that when I was giving talks etc to groups of people I was concentrating so much on articulating correctly that I didn't actually get nervous about the act of public speaking. I did before at times. Every cloud has a silver l...

Well the elastic worked. The gap was gone overnight!. My teeth, and also jaw generally, were very sore yesterday. But that's to be expected. Not too bad today. Hopefully over the next few weeks the elastic and wire will start to correct the abnormal rotation of my right central incisor. The left lat...

Had my first adjustment today. In the month since getting the linguals fitted my left lateral incisor has noticeably moved and is in a much better position :) A gap has also opened up between my right central and lateral incisors. This is not noticeable from the front as the right lateral is current...

They're moving

"My God! We're moving!!" Sorry, just stealing a line from the Queen Flash Gordon soundtrack album there. I've had linguals on my upper incisors for 9 days now. Seems to be doing something :) There is now clear space between the right central and lateral incisors. The lateral is still set b...

Too long? Too short? My doc did say about 6 months with the extra time to correct the rotations.

Linguals fitted

I drove down to see an orthodontist near Dublin to get a consult on Lingual braces. Just wanted to see if he thought I was suitable for lingual treatment and to compare the cost with that provided to me for ceramics by my ortho in Belfast. So after taking, pictures, casts, x-rays and an oral exam he...
