14 Months Post-Op, Pain :-(

I had my surgery November 2008. Things have been going great since then. However, last night I started getting tenderness and then pain when I go to open my mouth. It may the masseter muscle but it's also in the same area where my surgery was. Anyone else post-op experience pain down the road? My co...

7 Months Post Op

Finally got my braces off a week ago. Yay. I am very happy with my surgery and the results. I only had lower jaw surgery to correct and under bite and open bite. The only thing I notice is that I've had more ear aches and sinus infections that usual. But it could be just a bad allergy year for me. I...

Saw the OS today. He said things are looking great. BUT, still a no-chew diet for FOUR MORE WEEKS!!!! AAHHHH!!!!!! I don't know if I can handle it. There are only so many meals I can make no-chew. I'm so depressed.

Congrats. I had mine around the same time as you. Your name (lakerfan) suggests you're in Southern California. Where did you have your surgery done? I had mine at Kaiser in LA.

I have two holes on each side. My surgeon didn't stitch me up inside though. Both of them have pretty much healed over (I'm almost 3 weeks post-op). Not sure if we're talking about the same thing though as I only had lower surgery.

ME TOO!!!! I didn't realize i signed up for forced vegetarianism. HAHA!! Now that I'm on "no-chew" I've started to figure out how to get some meat. Unfortunately it's tuna. There's a burger place a block away from me and it smells soooooo good.

Yes. I had swelling inside. But as the giant unstitched gashes in my mouth heal, the swelling went down. For the first week, I couldn't open so no biting. I notice i bite my lip more now.

Lookin great!! It's great that you are already on a soft-food diet. I was on a liquid diet until day 7 and now I'm on a soft food (no chew) diet until at least day 21. (on day 14 now) Numbness is part of the package. Mine is still there but very slowly coming back and I can tell it will be completel...

14 days post-op. Today i have a little pain and a little swelling on my left side. The same side that has been slow to go down. :-( I'm hoping this is all part of the process. I'm starting to hit my normal routine. I went to the gym last night and did some very light cardio (since i can't open my mo...

Day 11: Looks like swelling went up a little on my left side. I've also included pictures of my smile and how wide I can open. It's just less than two fingers but my goal is to get there by Monday. My jaw joint is clicking when I open. I hope this goes away. I never had a problem with clicking befor...

I have Kaiser HMO. They're different because they own their own hospitals and doctors. They have an OS on staff in the Head and Neck Surgery Dept so they cover whatever he feels is relevant. I only paid the co-pay $150 for the surgery and $20 for each consultation. Oh I did have to pay for x-rays. C...

Here's a pic 5 years pre-op. My open bite is obvious. My underbite is kind of disguised in the bright white and my teeth were making up for the underbite. Sorry for the poor quality. It's an inkjet printout that was scanned. I've noticed I'm more swollen on one side of my face than the other. EEerrr...

9 days post-op. No new picture yet. Swelling actually increased a little on my left side but it's no big deal. I've been finding ways of making almost anything a soft, no-chew food. Mouth exercises are going well. Today I was able to get my baby toothbrush all the way back and clean the tops of my m...

End of Day 7. Swelling went down A LOT today. Just some left in the cheeks really. Eating was a lot more work that I expected. I'm going to use my chest bruises as an excuse not to dress up for work this week :-) hehehe http://photos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v986/75/31/1115144516/n1115144516_30...
