I read this in a teen magazine years ago... sounds ridiculous but does actually work! If you have long hair tie it back. Get a make-up pencil e.g. a lip liner or eye liner pencil. Look in a mirror from a couple of feet away, keep your head steady and draw a line around the outline of your face on th...

Hi Yeah, it's normal for molars to be a bit painful too, at least mine have been at times. I had an adjustment last week and my molars were pretty sore for a few days after. I think all of my teeth have hurt a bit at some point. Sometimes it comes out of nowhere randomly and then goes away again. It...

Yes, it can happen.
My bottom two front teeth were sort of crossed over, one sticking forward and one leaning back and I could see these straightening up after about 2 days.

Congratulations on your B day!
Like everyone else has said, it soon feels normal in your mouth and you forget you even have braces.

Good luck!

Hi, I'm in the last stage now (one more appointment and then off they come in December- yey!). Last week at my adjustment my ortho cut some wire off too. So now although I have brackets on the back molars, there's no wire attaching them to anything. I didn't think to ask what the purpose of this was...

Hi again (and yey for being in Leics!) Yeah, I have ceramics on top and they are definitely a little bit bigger than the metals I have on the bottom. They're totally worth it though because they're hardly visible unless people are really near- most people don't notice I have braces unless I'm right ...

Hey, I just spotted your post on the "People getting debraced before the New Year!" topic and saw that you're in Leicester too... so thought I'd drop by and say Hello I was starting to think I was the only adult with braces in the whole of the Midlands, I've not seen one other person with ...

Hi Danny91, congrats on being braced! 18 isn't so old to get braces, now you'll have all of your 20s and beyond with nice teeth! I nearly got braces on the NHS when I was 15 but there was such a long waiting list and in the end I wimped out, which I really regret. I only just got brave enough at 27 ...

Hi sadface, congrats on getting braced! I'm in the UK too and it does feel like adults with braces are a bit of a rarity here, I haven't seen another adult with braces the whole time I've been in mine. You're bound to feel self-conscious at first, but honestly most people don't even notice you're in...

Hi Congrats on your debracing date! I bet you're so excited! I should have just one more adjustment to go and then be brace free by about the 20th of November- yey! Even if things aren't quite right by then and my ortho wants to add another adjustment in, I'm hoping they will still be off in time fo...

Congrats!

Mine should be off soon as well. I've provisionally been told November, but hopefully should be confirmed at my next adjustment.

Crusty steak baguette is gonna be my celebratory first brace free meal!

Has the bracket come off your tooth or has the wire come away from the bracket? I had a bracket pop off (when eating some crusty pizza- oops!) a few days before an appointment. I rang my ortho and they told me just to wait til I was next in. I would ring your ortho asap and tell them what's happened...

I'm the wrong way round. My bottoms have been straight for ages but I'm still in top and bottom braces. I guess because I will be in class II elastics til the end, so my bottoms need to stay put for the elastics to hook on to.

Hi Stokie, I'm in the UK also. I have ceramic braces on top and metal on the bottom and the cost of my treatment was £3,600. My orthodontist let me spread the payments over the 12 months of treatment. If you're saving up for other things as well maybe you could get a loan independently and spread i...
