I used warm salt water gargles at night when the aligners were out & the pain has gone!! Then last night it was time to move on to my # 3 aligners - I tried for 45 minutes to get them in. I finally asked my husband to help me. He was able to muscle them in - until we heard the famiar "snap&...

Painful gum - normal or a bad sign??

Last night when I put my upper aligner in I had a little pain at the gum line above only 1 tooth. This tooth has a bump on it & it is close to where I hook the aligner with my finger nail to pull it out. I have been checking the area & it isn't red or swollen or bleeding. Is this normal?? It...

I am on tray # 2 & the pain subsides - for me - after a few days. I can pop the bottom off fast - no problem. The upper still gives me a little trouble as I have 2 bumps together & I have to pull a little harder - but no pain to speak of. I move to aligner # 3 on Thursday night. I now can pl...

$ 6,000.00 here in CA. My insurance paid $ 1000.00 up front. My orthodonist is letting me use my flex spending from work - so I paid some in 2008 & will pay off the balance in 2009.

This is for 15 months of treatment - all the trays, x-rays, follow up appointments, etc.

WOW!! Do let us know how it goes. I was told if I had them out too long it would extend my treatment by several weeks or months.

That's a great idea!! I'll add that to my routine. One last thing - would it be so terrible if I had them out just 3 hours day - an hour per meal? Right now - with only 2 hours out - I set the timer when I get up - then stand at the kitchen sink & drink coffee as much & as fast as I can. Thi...

Iced Coffee Through a Straw?? Also 22 hours a DAY!!

Hi all ~ I just started on my 2nd tray last week & I have been sneaking coffee through a straw. The dentists said NO COFFEE as it will stain - so I figured a straw wouldn't hurt? I know the hot coffee could warp the trays - so I am drinking iced or blended drinks. Am I going to be in trouble lat...

Have a glass of water at the same time and alternate, swooshing the water around as much as you can. Staining isn't what should be worrying you: it's soaking your teeth all evening in all that acid, which will soften and erode the enamel. And above all, don't brush right afterward - take out the tr...
