my top right tooth (right next to the big front one) is doing the SAME thing as yours, its moving down,and im wearing my retainer, whAT the heck

Some people had asked about tooth movements with Hawleys so I figured I'd share my experience today. I had braces for 2 years, about 15 years ago, and over time the gap between my two top front teeth got a little bigger and the bottom front teeth started to corkscrew a little. Not a lot of movement...

I just got my retainers fitted today. They're all right; don't hurt or anything. This lisp, however, is really annoying me! I'm going to practice reading out loud, and from reading on here I know it will go away in a few days...in the mean time, I feel like crying. Who else felt/feels this way? haw...

As long as your ortho is comfortable that they fit correctly, I'd not worry. You didn't mention which type you were getting - sounds like the Hawley (acrylic plate with wire in front of teeth)? If you should notice any movement, it's comparitively easy for your ortho to make minor tweaks to a Hawle...

I got them, but they don't even feel tight.. just like.. i dunno.. I barely feel they are there, especially on the bottom.. are they tight enough? can I make them tighter myself by adjusting them with a screwdriver or something?

I find I look much better, but can you post a before and after pic of yourself?

Is my dentist a moron or what??? Good grief! What a rude comment! It's not uncommon for there to be a week between being debanded and getting retainers, since many orthos do prefer to take the impressions without the brackets in place, and many orthos rely on outside labs to fabricate the retainers...

Update: I rang the dentist and I am postponing my de-bracing (am I crazy?!!) but only for 3 days so that I will only have to wait a week for the retainer instead of ten days......I'll try and post some pics when done but I'm not great at taking shots of the inside of my own mouth!!! xxx I have to w...
