Long time, no post. Life happens......with or without braces. I've had a really uneventful experience with my upper braces. Worse part was the first week and my sore jaws. Next Monday, July 12, I get my lower brackets. The uppers have moved enough where there is room, so says my ortho, I'm not so su...

Hi, I know it's been a while since I've updated my post. I've had two adjustments since my bracing in Jan. So far, so good. After the initial jaw issues, (sore to the max!! cancer sores & cuts),I haven't had any pain at all. Maybe my ortho is moving slowly since I'm such an oldie! I can see and ...

Hi, I am/was a clencher. My ortho told me that while in a relaxed or anytime position, that the teeth should not be touching and your jaw should be relaxed. I not only clenched my teeth at night, I would do it during the day until I made myself aware of what I was doing. Now I don't do it as much. :...

My ortho said I didn't need bands because I wouldn't need headgear. I do have a crown on my back molar & I don't have brackets on either of the back molars. (I currently only have uppers.)
Guess it all depends on the "Great Plan" and each individual case. :-#)

Have you tried chewing sugarless gum? My ortho recommended it & it helps to work the soreness out. I CHEW CHEW CHEW! :-*

March 1, 2009 Don't know what just happened but I lost my entire post!!!! In a nutshell: - 1st adjustment on 2/26 - no pain - noticing some movement. - space between right front tooth & bicuspid. - teeth moving forward - have to purposefully pronounce some words. - was given ligs to take home to...

My ceramics haven't stained either, thank goodness. After my first adjustment, I came home with an array of ligs to replace any when I want to. (I'm a silversmith & have the tools to change them myself.) So far, I haven't had to...1 week past 1st adjustment (which wasn't that bad). WeeHee! :jump:

Having lived through 1 month in upper braces and had my first adjustment, my memories are very current. Looking back, my first week with legos on my teeth was the worse. At the end of the first week, I weaned myself off of wax & week 2 was without it totally. I had sleepless nights & thought...

FYI - Glow-in-the-dark ligatures DO STAIN

After the first week being braced in "glow in the dark" ligs that were not suppose to stain, they did after a meal of Thai food. The meal was great, the ligs were yellow. So far, after my first adjustment with "champaign" colored ligs, they are holding up well. Will keep you post...

Hi, I'm relatively new to upper Clarity braces....since 1/22/09. Here are some tricks I learned. Start taking ibuprofen every 4 hrs. the day before bracing so you have it in your system, then likewise the day of bracing, then as needed. My ortho also advised to chew sugarfree gum to work the sorenes...

Feb 7, 2009 I'm really not sure that I am continuing my saga correctly. I keep posting responses while all I am really doing is making an update to my ongoing story. Any advice on how to do this the "correct" way would be great. Two weeks & doing great with the braces. My mouth is free...

Feb 1, 2009 I've made it over a week with my new braces. Haven't worn any wax for the last couple of days. Guess my jaws have finally toughened up (knock on wood!) I must say that the glow in the dark ligatures have not remained without stains as the dental assistant told me that they would. I ate c...

Even though I am braced for 1 week today, I can speak for the KANKA med. You both have read how my inner cheeks have been raw and I have used this product as did my son when he had braces. It really works as it numbs and provides a protective film over the irritated spot. I use it before I tak...
