Interesting article, thanks for posting it. I was wondering if the same holds true for all types of self-ligating braces or if this is specific to DBS?
We're neighboors btw, I'm in the west end of Toronto!
Hahaa I needed a good laugh, thanks for finding this thread again! I am in Switzerland's for two months...the first three days were awful, but it's getting much easier now. I wonder how this elastic compares to all the others?
My appts are 8 weeks apart with self-ligating...much too long to wait. Just before my first adjustment yesterday, the top wire was so loose, it wasn't putting any pressure on my teeth, so I know they could be seeing me at 7 or even 6 week intervals.
You guys are making me feel like such a wuss, b/c my first adjustment yesterday was sooo painful, and I am still in pain (even had to stay home from work). I have been on painkillers, but when they start wearing off, the pain is excrutiating -- *much* worse than the original braces application 2 mon...
I too had my first adjustment this morning (I have self- ligating ceramics/metal) and they surprised me with elastics. This is why I hate surprises!! I thought elastics were used as one of the last steps in treatment? I am in a lot of pain too, because I got a new thicker wire put in and the elastic...
My teeth have made some progress and I wanted to share my excitement with people that actually care!! I have been wearing braces for 3 weeks (ceramics on uppers, lowers are metal). Honestly, my teeth weren't that bad to begin with. The main reason I got them was because my one upper right lateral wa...
I have a couple of questions... 1) I've had my braces on for just over two weeks (17 days) - ceramics upper/metal lower. Should I be able to bite into foods by now? I am still breaking or cutting all my food as my front teeth are still sensitive. Just wondering what everyone else's experience is wit...
I would totally get the ceramics. I have been in In-ovation C for 2 weeks and recommend them. Although they are bulkier than the metal (I have In-ovation metal on the lowers), they are much less obvious and haven't hurt me too much. The ceramics haven't stained yet but I have been so careful to drin...
When I was braced a week and a half ago, I thought OMG, I'm never going to be able to chew for the next year, but you know what? It took me 8 days to start chewing my food. Mind you, I still have to break everything into small pieces and can only use my back molars, but small progress is better than...
Thanks for the reassurance, I am feeling a little better today. I'm in the same boat - my appts are also two months apart which really sucks, especially having these buildups on my molars...argh! Did your ortho apply your braces or did the dental assistants (not sure of their official title)? I assu...
Hey..thanks, my gums hurt. :( Did yours at first? I thought these self-ligating brackets weren't supposed to hurt? Are you able to talk properly? I am having a hard time putting together a sentence, all you can hear is my lisp! Please tell me I'll learn how to talk again soon!! Funny, my ortho is ac...
Hi Kish...just wanted to stop by and say congrats on taking this step...I just got braced two days ago and am trying to keep my head up. I have in-ovation C on uppers and in-ovation metal on lowers. It's been much harder than I expected, and everyone keeps asking me why I needed braces b/c they thou...
Congrats oharabrat :) I read your first post, feeling the exact same way, as I am getting braced tomorrow morning. I'm glad you're excited about the process, I hope I am soon, right now my anxiety over what they'll look like and feel like are over-riding my excitement. If everyone else can do it, I ...
Good question! I am about to take the plunge tomorrow morning!! I've opted for In-ovation C (clear ceramics) on the top and In-ovation regular metal on the bottom. I do have the option of getting the ceramics on the bottom, but my bottom teeth aren't too visible and the metals aren't as bulky. I'm h...
