Oh wow, well done on getting this far. I can understand you would be keen to get them off after 6 years  Hang on in there these last couple of months, I'm sure you'll be so pleased with the results when the time comes. Slightly OT sorry, but why would they put braces on someone only 8 yrs old...

No need to get the wires removed, they clean around it.

I had mine done a couple of times whilst braced and it didn't cause any real issues as most of the stains etc tend to be on the backs of teeth rather than the fronts.

I carried on chewing (sugar free) gum all the way through my braces journey and it never got stuck to the brackets :)

In fact, I'm sure I read somewhere that gum is good as it stimulates blood flow in the teeth and gums

A a coffee drinker, curry eater and smoker I had my fair share of staining to deal with but sadly there is no alternative to getting the O rings changed (or not one that I ever found in 9 months of searching). I was very fortunate as my ortho was brilliant - Initially I used to go every week to get ...

I would go and pay for the replacement retainers if it were me... You may find that wearing them again full time for a while they will bring the teeth back into the correct position again so long as they've not gone too far out of alignment. Your ortho should be able to make them up from the impress...

I also made an urgent visit to the denstist recently.. When i was looking at some pics I had taken of my progress, I could see what looked like a huge cavity between my last 2 molars. My densist ran some xrays and said there is no cavity and that it's just staining plus a bit of shadowing from the m...

Pre De-Bracing Questions/Concerns

I'm due to be de-braced next week and for the most part this can't come a moment too soon (it's already been put back a few weeks), but the flip side is I'm really nervous of the braces coming off! I'm worried that... I will have huge white marks where the brackets have been I won't like how my teet...

I only have braces on the top and I've got 12 brackets in total - my last molars aren't bracketed either.

Celebs In Braces

I just stumbled across this site http://showbiz.sky.com/Stars-In-Braces (not sure if it's been posted before, apologies if this a re-post) and for anyone feeling like the 'only one' to have braces on show it makes for a re-assuring browse. If the stars look this good with their braces on - then so m...

My 15 yr old son only had to wear his Essix retainer full time for 2 weeks, and then nightly for 3 months and then just a couple of nights a week unless he saw movement, in which case he was told to wear it nightly again for as long as he felt necessary.

Off-Set Wire Causing Probs

I'm coming up to the end of my treatment (long time lurker, newbie poster  ) but for the last couple of weeks my ortho seems to be having problems with the final alignment of my teeth. They were all looking pretty damn good except that my upper right central was sitting slightly too far forwar...

Mine are costing £900 - that's for clear brackets (except the very last bracket on each side) on the top only, and timescale for me is approx 9 months.
